I think you are overthinking it. By new accounts they usually mean that you haven't been a t-mobile postpaid customer for 30-90 days or so.

Just because your balance goes to zero for a few days doesn't mean they won't let you back on. Not sure how long after your balance goes to 0 you lose your number though.

ok, thats how i thought it was. only reason i worry is because in the past i accidentally let my sprint account go 3 months without paying (new debit card, and sprint didnt have my email or anything to notify me)

once i realized it, i called sprint and told them "i dont wanna let my plan get taken from me!" and the lady laughed, saying they werent even thinking about it. she told me that sprint almost never kills peoples chances to come back... which made sense to me in their situation.

but like you said, ill know the first day if i miss the payments. i wont be able to use my phone

:D i honestly have no idea what bojengles is. ive heard the word and i like it. im 30 years old, is that bad?

It's spelled 'Bojangles' and it's a chain of chicken restaurants found in the south. It was also the nickname of an old African American tap dancer/movie star. There's a song Mr. Bojangles, about a drifter who tap dances, so calling someone a bojangles would mean that they can tap dance well. Not exactly a commonly used term though, and is probably only used in the south.

This plan is great if you like never talk at all.
I rarely never ever talk on the phone and I could never get away with 100 minutes.
I barely ever get pass 100 minutes each month but when you add the weekends/nights and mobile to mobile, it adds up. The 100 minutes you get is just that 100 MINS.
The voip apps also sounds great in theory too but they all sound like crap.
I paid $4.99 for grooveip and tried it like 5 times(even on wifi) and couldn't hear crap so I haven't tried it again since.
More power to anyone that can get around the 100 minutes limitation.

last three months, total call minutes used for me- 260, 160, 280

most of my night and weekend minutes are now wifi voip calls anyway.. and if i use my phone for work, my work pays for it.

edition-

wifi tethering speeds to my laptop right from my bedroom, 1-2 bars of signal

nothing spectacular, but i get these speeds anywhere in town. its been great so far!

You're doing it wrong.

Buy refills from callingmart.com
They have 10% coupons monthly.
Total cost $27 no tax.

not seeing any coupon codes right now, but even the 1.5% off they give you plus not having to pay tax means its 29.70 and not 31.80 so that does help i guess!

There must be some reason for people to be with T-Mobile in spite of their crappy customer service.

I am very new to mobile broadband (so I cannot compare/no experience with other providers). I am getting 44.6 Mbps download and 1.48 Mbps upload on T-Mobile Samsung S3. Tested using http://www.bandwidthplace.com

i buy used phones and root them. customer service is useless to me
Used phones are also expensive, I thought.

BTW, T-Mobile has no customer service. Their forum works slightly better. If you like T-Mobile and wish to be with them never call their telephone support.

in 8+ years i've never had anything but good experiences with their phone support (adding removing things that couldn't be done online, as well as sim unlocking)

Unless like the other 3 carriers, I've never NEEDED Tmobiles customer support.

Its like complaining about a car manufacturer that doesnt warranty his product but always makes them perfect, so it doesnt really matter too much.

Pretty much this. IMO tmo has the best customer support because I rarely ever have to use it. And when I do I get great service.

Ported my number in. My-tmobile.com website still won't recognize the number and allow me to register for online account. Have contacted them 3 times and they are still unsuccessful.

I want to like them. However I am having anxiety over the 100 minutes limitation and I find I am stuck in edge speeds way more than I expected. Not being able to register for olam is another thing I don't like. I know I can get more minutes for .1 a minute but at that point I might be better off with a straight talk sim.

They are lucky that att mvno's are having data issues or I'd seriously be considering leaving already. Using galaxy nexus.

i wanted to get my buddy on this tmo 4g plan, but when i went to his house i found out that the cell reception was basically useless. i quickly changed my mind and told him to stick with sprint.

it must just be your area. in madison, wi tmo's service is outstanding. btw, if you ported your number from another carrier, it might take a day for that to fully go through. my tmobile account page was working within within a half hour after the phone was activated, but i went with the phone number tmo gave me.

and customer service? its so funny. are they going to tell me how to sbf flash my bricked phone because i rooted it wrong? i didnt think so. its no different then microsoft's oem licenses. people always told me "hey! its cheap because you cant get phone support! oem is such a ripoff!" well, you know how many times i called microsoft for support? never. ever.

anyways, my favorite type of support is the live chat. it worked great with sprint, and i used tmo's to ask about the 4g plan before activating. they answered all my questions, and its completely hassle free. so much better then email, web forums or phone calls.

with tmo's monthly 4g plan, you dont get phone discounts. so my exhibit II would cost $199 from tmobile, and on ebay they go for $150 at least. part of the reason the plan is so cheap.

unless you find one that says "startup wizard failed" like i did. knowing it was likely a software problem, i bought it for $75 bin. got the phone, flashed and rooted it, and its like new.

I ported back on August 24th. Have contacted them via phone call and 2 chat sessions... the second ticket got submitted so we'll see...

I have to believe that it can't be that hard to fix... just adding a phone number to a database or something along those lines.

By the way can anyone tell me what these mean?

H for hspa+, right
3g
E for edge
G I have gotten, no idea what that means

I assume is H is actually 3g than what is 3g? 2g? Then what is edge? Confused

on my exhibit II, i get 4g>3g>E

of course, its in reality its- fast3g>3g>2g, but i like the way it shows on my phone... it makes more sense. the "E" to me means "EEEEKK! DONT TRY THE DATA!"
