Ornery, if we drill in alaska, what are we doing? Giving us a few weeks/months of oil...bah. Give that money towards the development and support of electric cars and natural gas cars/buses. Maybe a tax break to people who drive electric cars or companies that use natural gas buses?
BTW, I like this Lieberman/Cheney debate much more than Bush/Gore! Its much more structured and calm without as much bickering and repetitiveness.
Also, I would take Cheney over Bush any day...I wish they would reverse their ticket! Lieberman or Gore...doesn't really matter to me. I am a Democrat, but if they lose (which would, IMHO, suck...for the Republicans out there, you'd rejoice

OMG...can you believe how Joe explains his change of position of Social Security privatization? Why doesn't he say the truth that Social Security is going bankrupt on its current course. If we do nothing, then it is going bankrupt. They make it sound like it is right on course and allowing young Americans to invest only 2% of their Social Security will make it go bankrupt. BTW, it is a choice and no one has to invest their 2% Social Security money if they don't want to.
Make the Congress AND presidency both GOP... voila! No more partisanship! Then we get rid of the marriage penalty, no late-term abortions, privatization of SS, school vouchers...

It's a wash on the congressional partisanship question: both fellas are highly praised for their past work therein. However I still feel these guys would fight tooth and nail to gridlock each other as often as possible.

zippy, thers a helluva lot more oil in alaska than "a few weeks or months." the US has the third largest oil reserves on the planet and we're not allowed to get at them because its "a pristine environment, you might do something to a whole 20 square miles of it and we're all gonna burn in flames if we do that." what a crock of sh!t.
social security will go bankrupt in 2054 under gore's plan, and thats probably give rather rosy economic times over the next decade. which isn't going to happen. note: at the current rate social security will go bankrupt in 2037. it only gets a 2% rate of return, so the money actually becomes worth less each year. a gov't t-bill is good for 5%.
