Are you looking at typewriter written material? If not, then don't judge.Originally posted by: tk109

Wow I had no idea people ever used 2 spaces. It doesn't even look right.
We all use one space on Anandtech. It parses down to one space no matter how many you type. And you are posting on here with one space.

I've never used two spaces between sentences. I have heard in the past that it was more "correct", but it never looked right to me (and it's never mattered on any of my assignments either). Of course, I'm only 21 and have only ever typed on computers...

I'm 28, and my typing class in junior high was on a typewriter. We were taught two spaces.
That said, unless I'm writing (as in fiction and such) I use one space.

Old machines and old fonts required it. Thus it was taught. I still do it.
Computers and proportional fonts eliminated the need. Thus it isn't needed any more. Most style guides will now say 1 space. If you do the 2 spaces, you learned old obsolete information. You might as well move yourself from the typewriter era to the computer era. I fight that myself.
It is very easy to just do a search and replace for two spaces, so it isn't a big deal when you are working together on a project.
