<< So in other words, Gore is a liar. He said he would NOT request a hand recount. >>

I don't remember Gore saying he would not request a hand recount. When did Gore say that?

Orbius,
Gore lost the election. What he is doing is not for the people but for himself. What he is doing is destroying democracy in the US. He is a poor loser. He need to get rid of his diapher(spelling?), throw away his pacifier and grow up. He didn't even win in his own state.

Ride525,
Why is it that when President Bush go to court, he's afraid he might lose but when gore go to court, it is "he's got the right to do what he is doing."? Bush has every right to go to court to try to stop certain people from destroying democracy. Do it, he must, for democracy, for himself and for America.

Red Dawn - chill. It's just hard to accept a person's argument when they have the same mistakes as the person they're putting down. Personally, I think it's a lot easier to get some typed text correct then getting every word correct in a national/seminational speech.

The EC may be outdated, but I happened to think: just imagine what would have happened if it were not in use this election...

Extra! Extra! Read all about it! Nation too close to call! Gore has lead, but Bush requesting recount of entire nation!

I'd personally like the former, but not necessarily the latter. ;)

I personally think that Gore and Bush are both doing the right things. This is a legitimate dispute, with recounts and the courts being the only mechanisms for resolving it. A quick concession will not legitimize GW. The process must take its course.

seems a couple of things have happened.

Boreites got a court injunction to keep the Palm Beach recount results from being certified.

also in the local news in FL.... It seems that the "local ground swell" of screwed over voters in Palm Beach is the result of a Bore public relations campaign that started calling registered Democrat voters the afternoon of the election & explaining how they were screwed by the butterfly ballot.

echos of Slick Willy.

My guy is the second coming, your guy the anti-christ! This is what it boils down to folks and it is also why the institution of the presidency is as meaningful as the British monarchy. How can there be any cooperation when the lines are drawn so harshly?

The issues no longer matter, what matters is which candidate/party scares you(the voter) the least? Truly sad, and the reason that voters no longer care.

<< Why would Bore be sworn in? He lost. >>

This is why it will be such fun if Gore wins the recount, is elected and you have to listen to all the forum members reminding you of your posts. If that happens, I'd suggest you take a vacation.
