Am I the only one that remembers:DUI

Drugs and DUI's don't make you not the worlds best swimmer. I just think that it's laughable that Americans pretended to care about swimming last year.

It wasn't the actual swimming that was important...

I suspect that the rules say that he will have to fail a drug test for Marijuana in order to be banned, a picture will not cut it. Since this happened last November any test he takes now as long as he has remained clean will come up negative for Marijuana.

He'll regret it or he doesnt intend to compete again anyway. This isnt the first time fame has destroyed someone.

Hopefully he makes a comeback.

The picture won't cut it because you can't prove from it that he actually smoked marijuana. I'm guessing this will turn out to be a non-issue.

The American fixation on the demonization of marijuana is ridiculous.

It has nothing to do with that. It's illegal. And it's against IOC rules. It should be legal, but its not. So you have to play by the rules.

As government governs only by the consent of the governed, bad laws cannot be changed and injustice cannot be righted if the people consent to "playing by the rules" even as they know certain rules are wrong.

We didn't care about "swimming" we cared about the story and recognized what a tremendous accomplishment a US Athlete was going for... it's the Olympics dude.

You need to get off your negative streak.

You bought into the story anyways. Kinda like how NBC aired the first sand beach volleyball tournament after the Olympics and 4 people watched. Yes, 8 golds is a lot, but he's far from the greatest athlete out there.

An unfortunate photo, but a very important one depending on how you look at it. In a way this could be the biggest thing that happened to the pro-weed movement in.. forever lol. Just think about it, a specimen like Phelps who obviously trains hard to be in his best shape still rationalizes smoking pot. I'm glad he chooses to still have fun and enjoy life at his age. Good for you Mike!

?He looked just as natural with a bong in his hands as he does swimming in the pool. He was the gold medal winner of bong hits.
LOLOL

umm, does anyone really think this LOOKS like Phelps? side pic, face doesn't even look the same from that angle.

Mind you, not an olympic swimmer, but probably the best to swim at my university was a chainsmoker with a bad back. Some people are just genetic freaks.

I find Phelps as annoying as anyone out there, but pot is absolutely, 100% not performance enhancing. If he were to be banned for that, it'd be ridiculous. It's like the guy shooting himself in the foot to give the rest of the field a chance, and he still goes out and wins everything.

There's no reason to think that he cheated the drug tests. I don't know how long it takes weed to leave your system (I imagine it depends on the method of testing), but it seems totally plausible that he stops smoking well before he's going to be tested again. And again, since this is anything but a performance enhancing drug, who gives a flying fuck.

Leave him alone Vic, Bill is a Good American.

As a serious college athlete, I used to amaze my friends with the humongous hits I could take. I bet this guy's lung capacity is astounding.

Sometimes I dream
That he is me
You've got to see that's how I dream to be
I dream I move, I dream I groove
Like Mike
If I could Be Like Mike
Again I try
Just need to fly
For just one day if I could
Be that way
I dream I move
I dream I groove
Like Mike
If I could Be Like Mike
