Hitachi Travelstar 7K320 320GB 7200rpm 2.5" HD

Remember when we were going nuts for the 200gb model with a certain sku number that meant it was 7200RPMs for about $120 a year ago. We were taking them out of the shell and using the hard drive internally in our laptops. Anyone still have them running like that?

Just wanted to let you guys know...

I bought one of these drives from Newegg in November 2008.

Good news: This is an EXCELLENT drive - fast, quiet n' cool!!!

Bad news: I'm S-T-I-L-L waiting for my $20 rebate (I mailed it back on 22-NOV-2008).

So, caveat emptor! 😀

You can expedite some MIRs - by throwing them a shekel or two.

I ordered a Thermaltake BlacX docking station at the same time as the Travelstar.

With the BlacX MIR, I gave the process center a dollar and received my rebate check in 10 days.

With the Travelstar, 'rebatesHQ' didn't offer that option, sooo... here I am, two months later! 😛

Already bought 2, I bought one for my bosses mac mini at work from newegg, but when I saw the ZZF deal I decided it was time to get myself one too. I managed to convince myself a 100gb 7,200 RPM HD just aint enough for myself.

Pretty awesome deal, thanks!

Interesting!

Toshiba just bought Hitachi, so I suppose they're dumping their 'old products'... 😀

EDIT: In case you think I'm BS'ing ya...

LoL!

All I can tell you is, I'm running this Hitachi HD in my Toshiba lappy, and it's been working EXCELLENT - better than my OEM Toshiba HD, sooo...

Maybe I was ahead of the curve!

I put it in my cart and the price comes up $74.99 but there is and INSTANT REBATE above the price and a price of $55. So the price needs to be adjusted yet.

I hope that the deal is not dead.

My sonoma system only supports SATA 1, will this drive still work in it? I know desktop drives have a sata mode jumper for this.

Rebate appears to be over. Is $70 still a good price?
