my rebate got approved in 2 weeks. I am tempted to buy another one

Approved, yes.....but I'm at 3 full months waiting on two of their 1tb rebates.

honestly I got mine while it was $79.99 with a $20 rebate..to me it is worth $79.99 without a rebate..it is faster than many of the other 7200rpm drives I have tested..makes no noise that I can notice, and is relatively cool to the touch

I had a seagate 160gb 7200rpm (seagate is generally my main company to buy from). It got very warm, making the laptop at least 2-3'C hotter, was very noisy (like a muffled sound of rocks in a tin can), and was 25% slower than this drive

Remember when we were going nuts for the 200gb model with a certain sku number that meant it was 7200RPMs for about $120 a year ago. We were taking them out of the shell and using the hard drive internally in our laptops. Anyone still have them running like that?

*raises hand*

I bought six of them, still am using one, and the sold the other five for $30 profit each. :Q

Does the 7200 rpm drive cut battery life significantly from the 5400 rpm models? I've got a 250 seagate and was looking to upgrade to the 7200 version but my battery only lasts 2 hours as it is--will it be less with the 7200?

i heard the extra power it eats is negligible...maybe 10-15 min extra from 5400 drive, but subtract the time u save from faster loading things!! kekeke

but damn this is hot...must resist...do not need.....

Does anyone know the answer to my question? Are these backwards compatible with Sata 1 ?

I know desktop drives are using a jumper, is this the same?

Just looked it up on their rebate tracking web site.

As of today, I've been waiting 3 months, 3 weeks, and 3 days for my rebate to be sent... :|

I upgraded my laptop 5400rpm HD to a 7200rpm 200GB model and it's not noticeably faster. I was expecting to be on par with a desktop but it's still very much laptop level performance. My laptop is a Lenovo T61 with a 2GHz Core 2 Duo CPU and 3GB of memory.

I recently upgraded my Dell Inspiron 9400 (17 inch) laptop from a Seagate 120GB 5400 RPM hard drive to this one:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16822116160

and my computer is noticably faster. Besides booting up quicker, the computer just seems a little faster at doing everything - especially using Microsoft Outlook. It could be that the old 5400 RPM rive was slower than yours to begin with, though. I would highly recommend this Fujistsu drive, although the price is not as good as the Hitachi in this deal.

Just as an FYI for those who ordered this drive with a $30 MIR (~$60 AR) from Newegg in late November, I did finally receive my $30 rebate from Hitachi yesterday.
