dont get too happy in your pants,
it would be way to slow for that kinda application. If you have a ser ver that needs that kind of storage on the fly, you better think uscsi or fibre channel.
 
I remember seeing 500gb hard drives on compusa.com last year. I believe that they just stacked several platters together in one, so it wasn't a true single hd.
 
I'll be happy to wait until WD & Seagate release theirs 🙂

Agreed, I would prefer a leap in speed.

I heard a while ago that there really wasn't a demand for anything faster than 15k, it was looked at but decided unnessary. From the trends I'd assume physical size is the next big change.

Well, what we really need is a new way of storing data. Something faster and less prone to fail.
