Yip, the loony left are frothing at the mouth to destroy this country just so they can say "We stuck it to the man", unfortunately for America that "man" is the middle class, and working poor they pretend to care about.

the middle class does not make more than $200k / yr.

I believe the working poor are below 400% of the poverty line.

The CBO projects savings on the current form of the bill, and sustainable savings for beyond 20 years. This bill is paid for unlike past bills.

400% of the poverty line is about $40,000 a year for an individual. I'm not really sure that qualifies as "poor" and it certainly is enough income to purchase insurance on your own, provided things like pre-existing conditions are not holding you back.

I think the problem is that this type of subsidy creates a gap where individuals relatively close to the threshold may pass up opportunities if it means losing the subsidy. Do you have any more information available on it?

It is not a linear cutoff, its a sliding scale system. You get more help with insurance payments based on income, with the smallest subsidy at 400% over the poverty line. At 401% you do not receive the benefit anymore, however, the subsidy is small at that point anyway.

Ah well that make sense then.

Dude your're a fucking idiot...it was Reagonomics that started the systematic dismantling of the Middle class.

Hey hey hey, don't confuse the America haters with facts

Twiddle Dee and Twiddle Dumber. Prime examples of the hate spewing left pretending to care about Americans, the really sad part, is probably think you're right and that somehow this bottom up strategy is going to work, fail on every level.

Dude it worked in every other case. Look at those vibrant socialist models we see throughout the world!

Show us one model of trickle up that has worked better than ours? laugh your ass off as much as you want you cannot find one.

If we don't need to increase taxes for 2 endless wars, a 1 trillion dollar corporate bailout, or 700 billion a year in empire building, I don't think 80 billion a year will create a need for one... lol.

No kidding, why would we have to increase taxes AT ALL?? We haven't paid for anything for the last eight years, why start now.

And there will always be the ignorant seeking revenge for some outrage like you. Unfortunately you'll probably win because ignorance is indeed strength.

Incumbency is a weakness, and that alone will defeat them eventually. The crisis is that we've nothing decent to replace them with.

Yeah the middle class flourished in the high inflationary period of the 1970s. I see Obama is doing his best to bring back those glory years for us all!

Neither will work exclusively, and with both you have to have incentives for the money to move in the right direction. If businesses thrive, the people thrive, when businesses start hurting so do the people, you can not seperate the two.

You forgot how your hero Ronnie Raygun tripled the deficit, the peeps on the right have such selective memory.

I realize this but it was definitely the start of the whole financial clusterfuck we are in now.

This is true, but remember every President since has taken what RR did and run with it. That includes Obama.

That's one reason I believe there's not a damn bit of difference between the two sides. Oh they talk as if they aren't alike, but when push comes to shove they can't screw things up fast enough.

The Republican's said the same thing about Social Security and Medicare now you guys embrace it.

I would celebrate if both of these were killed as well; these programs are to help support those who refuse to help themselves and plan for their own future. If I got back my HUNDREDS of dollars a month from these programs, I would be much better off.

We might as well just pass the healthcare bill and pay for people to not work, pay for their McD breakfest/lunch/dinner habits, and then completely pay for their healthcare too, because of their crappy lifestyle.
