when does Bill talk?

tomorrow... supposedly he's been strong-armed into talking about foreign policy, not trying to restore his domestic legacy that Obama trashed.

If she had gone out and given some bitter speech about how hard she worked and should have won (not in those words of course) she would have been killed by the press. So she goes out and gives exactly the speech everyone said she had to give.

But at the same time the headline on Drudge now says that Bill will not go to Obama's big speech Thursday.

So on one hand Hillary is out there giving the 'Go Obama" speech but at the same time her and Bill are not so quietly trying to undermine Obama's campaign.

People said the same thing about Bill and Hillary in 2004 and how they really did not do much to help Kerry get elected. Hillary knows that if Obama wins she will never get a chance at the White House (2016 would be the earliest) So she acts like a strong party loving Democrats in public, but then sits around and does little to help Obama in private.

Watch to see how hard she works to get Obama elected. How many speeches she gives, how many appearances she makes. She is not running for reelection so she could be out there every day helping Obama, but I have a hunch she won't be doing that. Instead I bet she goes around helping Democrats down ticket by showing up at their events and helping them raise money. Thus building more support with in the party for her. But at the same time not really doing much to help Obama win.

What a specious thought.

It is not in her interest to see Obama lose. She has a much better chance of having her policies from the senate seeing the light of day with an Obama presidency than with a McCain presidency.

She may be a Clinton (as you would like to portray her) but she is a Democrat first and as long as she thought she had shot at the nomination, it was about her.

But she is not stupid and realizes that, even for her legacy, now she will be better off supporting any and all Democrats to help them win the presidency and more seats in the senate / house.

Senator Clinton has already done more than any other losing candidate has ever done to help the winning candidate. It's not her job to win the election for Obama. He's supposed to be the great uniter. It's now up to him to win or lose his own damn election. She has done everything that anyone could reasonably ask of her.

Yes it is, and by that she redeems herself and earns the right to pursue election again when the time comes, and she's doing that superbly.

Don't mind PJ's BS that led you to this response.

I was impressed.

I think the idea that UHC can't work has been proven wrong by everyone other industrialized nation...and UHC != Socialized Medicine.

PJ, props to a genuinely interesting thread, and great input. As a fellow conservative, it's good to see you return to the form I always knew you capable of.

Bush is a dark spot on the Republican label, let's hope that whatever happens in '08, things move forward to better and brighter days, whomever our President may be.

Very good speech as usual. To the point and not just some feel good stuff. Like many have said already, she and her husband is doing more then any other losing candidates in history to support the winning candidate, and that's in spite of the disrespect from the Obama camp during the vp nomination process.

It's ironic that the supposed great uniter couldn't get pass the personal differences and leave someone with millions supporters off the ticket, and Clinton who is suppose to be selfish, power hungry, doing everything she could for the good of the party.

Or did the Dems sit her down and tell her that if she didn't sway some of her own voters to Obama there was a chance he could lose and that loss could potentially be blamed on her?

I don't question her speechmaking abilties. She can speak and motivate, and does that well. I do question her convictions and whether her speech was about what is best for this country, or best for Hillary.

As TLC totally misses the point, as TLC masturbates furiously, that some how, what is good for Hillary must be good for McCain. The Hillary position is quite clear, she does not think McCain is the right panacea, and if TLC expects the statements made in the heat of a primary to bind Hillary, he is delusional.

I'm almost hoping Obama wins. I want to see these magical powers that he wields to make us the most beloved, fair, peaceful, understanding, green planet on earth. It sounds cool, like living in Switzerland without having to move!

You can read the text of her speech here. I think it is a good speech.

I can not remember any other candidate who lost a close race supporting their rival like she did in this speech.

I thought she did everything and more of what was required of her. I think she could have a chance in 2016 even if Obama serves two terms. Joe Biden would be 73 (her, 68) so it wouldn't suprise me if he's not going to run in 2016.

BTW, was anyone watching CNN afterwards where they interviewed a Hillary supporter? She was crying about Hillary being Presidential and how she lost the nomination because she's a woman. I was cringing while watching. She obviously had lost all touch with reality and couldn't move on.

I'm not a fan of her's, but she did very well. She's very good at speeches and delivering strong sound bites fro replay, as well as funny and stinging attack lines as well. "No way, now how, no McCain" was very clever, as was the quip about the "twin cities." Overall she did really well, she's a strong politician, and its amazing that Obama actually beat her.

Exactly as I expected. The victim mentality was in plain view, much of her theme was basically about how the government should "help" and provide everything for everyone instead of people doing for themselves. No personal responsibility, just lots of drivel about how much more of our money the government can squander on corrupt social programs.

Overall she did a nice job in trying to unify the dems.

It would double the tax rate for medicare level coverage for all. Instead of 40 million with out insurace you will have 350 million with shitty worthless health coverage.

Uhh... Why do you have a problem paying taxes for healthcare, vs paying premiums to a health insurance company with a lot more middlemen and people making profits? It's ridiculous how people fail to see the big picture and not realize that with a real single payer UHC system they'd be paying for one thing instead of another, with the benefit of everyone being covered with more efficiency and a 300 million persion pool. Obama's and Hillary's plans are steps in that direction involving subsidies etc.

Have you looked at McCain's plan? It would result in high risk people being unable to get insurance, and low risk people not wanting to get insurance. This from a guy who's never in his life been on anything other than a government health insurance plan or had his salary paid by anyone other than the taxpayer.

Nothing about personal responsibility? I think you need to listen to her speech again. As I recall she basically said that those who work hard should succeed. I didn't hear anything about freebies.
