But at the same time the headline on Drudge now says that Bill will not go to Obama's big speech Thursday.

seriously, how much more can Hillary possibly do before people stop accusing her of trying to sabotage Obama?

We can say that Hillary did the 'right' thing, but we can also say that she did the self centered thing. If she had gone out and given some bitter speech about how hard she worked and should have won (not in those words of course) she would have been killed by the press. So she goes out and gives exactly the speech everyone said she had to give.
But at the same time the headline on Drudge now says that Bill will not go to Obama's big speech Thursday.
So on one hand Hillary is out there giving the 'Go Obama" speech but at the same time her and Bill are not so quietly trying to undermine Obama's campaign.
People said the same thing about Bill and Hillary in 2004 and how they really did not do much to help Kerry get elected. Hillary knows that if Obama wins she will never get a chance at the White House (2016 would be the earliest) So she acts like a strong party loving Democrats in public, but then sits around and does little to help Obama in private.
Watch to see how hard she works to get Obama elected. How many speeches she gives, how many appearances she makes. She is not running for reelection so she could be out there every day helping Obama, but I have a hunch she won't be doing that. Instead I bet she goes around helping Democrats down ticket by showing up at their events and helping them raise money. Thus building more support with in the party for her. But at the same time not really doing much to help Obama win.

tomorrow... supposedly he's been strong-armed into talking about foreign policy, not trying to restore his domestic legacy that Obama trashed.

Senator Clinton has already done more than any other losing candidate has ever done to help the winning candidate. It's not her job to win the election for Obama.

Hillary actually made a good very speech. Was it too little, too late though and did she really believe what she was saying? Or did the Dems sit her down and tell her that if she didn't sway some of her own voters to Obama there was a chance he could lose and that loss could potentially be blamed on her?
I don't question her speechmaking abilties. She can speak and motivate, and does that well. I do question her convictions and whether her speech was about what is best for this country, or best for Hillary.

PJ, props to a genuinely interesting thread, and great input. As a fellow conservative, it's good to see you return to the form I always knew you capable of.
Bush is a dark spot on the Republican label, let's hope that whatever happens in '08, things move forward to better and brighter days, whomever our President may be.

Nice speech she did exactly what was expected. To bad she went with the stupid UHC crap. I really wonder if the dems really understand what it would do. It would double the tax rate for medicare level coverage for all. Instead of 40 million with out insurace you will have 350 million with shitty worthless health coverage.

Exactly as I expected. The victim mentality was in plain view, much of her theme was basically about how the government should "help" and provide everything for everyone instead of people doing for themselves. No personal responsibility, just lots of drivel about how much more of our money the government can squander on corrupt social programs.
Overall she did a nice job in trying to unify the dems.
