Hillary's speech

Nice speech.

Did was she was supposed to do.

Got a small laugh out of a few points. But I am sure the Democrats loved everything they heard.

Nice speech she did exactly what was expected. To bad she went with the stupid UHC crap. I really wonder if the dems really understand what it would do. It would double the tax rate for medicare level coverage for all. Instead of 40 million with out insurace you will have 350 million with shitty worthless health coverage.

I thought that the Hillary Clinton speech (just concluded) was great. I think she would have been better to leave out the anecdotes of the mother with cancer who adopts two autistic children, the Marine Corps soldier who asks her to take care of his buddies overseas - it just sounds so fake.

Otherwise, smartly played. She didn't speak of Obama's character because that would ring rather hollow/hypocritical. She said that these are the values a Democrat inhibits, and Senator Obama will deliver on these issues in spades. I think this will ring true to many rabid Clintonite women who resent Senator Obama - that it's still in their interest to vote for him come the election.

Hilary is true to her core - and UHC has always been a focus for her - so why be dismayed that she said this again...

Excellent analysis and I agree with all points. She was very inspiring and that's what the party needs.

A *great* job by Hillary!

Great speech. I was upset at first at her getting the intro video but it helped motivate the crowd, and I was wondering if she'd give a dud (whether on purpose or because she is not always the best speechwriter) but she hit all the points she was supposed to effectively. The only surprise to me was that I thought she was going to go mercilessly at McCain but I think her style was better with the 'did you stand for me, or these ideals?'

I think the part that sorta went "did you join this campaign because of those ideas or because of me" was very good.

The only Hillary supporters who don't vote Obama are people who weren't really Democrats and were just instead supporting Hillary because she was a female.

Fixed

She did what she was supposed to do. She gave a great speech and did more to push for unity than anyone could've asked. Now the Clinton haters can go fvck themselves.

Time will tell how many of her supporters were moved.

It was a bad night for the GOP, that's for certain.

Her joke about McSame and Bush in the Twin Cities was great.

I thought it was a very good speech, but at the end of the day, I had hoped Hillary would have called a spade a spade. And said she would really really wanted to be the first Female in the the history of the US to break that glass ceiling, and be the nominee of the democratic party. And the fact that she got beaten by a male had nothing to do with sexism in Obama. And now its up to Obama to drive that point home by making
Hillary a profit with honor and to promise we will have a female President in our lifetime. Its something I wish she would have said, but who know, Bill may say it for her tomorrow.

The democrats have some very disappointed females who wanted Hillary on the female issue alone, including my wife, but that issue must be confronted head on. In 2008 , its was so close but not enough because Hillary voted wrong on Iraq.

Get over yourself.

'did you stand for me, or these ideals?'

Well?

Hillary did the brave thing - and didn't make about herself - but about the party. How easy it would have been to lay down platitudes like you or others may have wanted to see - but then she would have been attacked for that....

/it's a can't win battle....

Hillary actually made a good very speech. Was it too little, too late though and did she really believe what she was saying? Or did the Dems sit her down and tell her that if she didn't sway some of her own voters to Obama there was a chance he could lose and that loss could potentially be blamed on her?

I don't question her speechmaking abilties. She can speak and motivate, and does that well. I do question her convictions and whether her speech was about what is best for this country, or best for Hillary.

Good, why should 40 million have nothing and your worthless ass get cured.

We can say that Hillary did the 'right' thing, but we can also say that she did the self centered thing. If she had gone out and given some bitter speech about how hard she worked and should have won (not in those words of course) she would have been killed by the press. So she goes out and gives exactly the speech everyone said she had to give.

But at the same time the headline on Drudge now says that Bill will not go to Obama's big speech Thursday.

So on one hand Hillary is out there giving the 'Go Obama" speech but at the same time her and Bill are not so quietly trying to undermine Obama's campaign.

People said the same thing about Bill and Hillary in 2004 and how they really did not do much to help Kerry get elected. Hillary knows that if Obama wins she will never get a chance at the White House (2016 would be the earliest) So she acts like a strong party loving Democrats in public, but then sits around and does little to help Obama in private.

Watch to see how hard she works to get Obama elected. How many speeches she gives, how many appearances she makes. She is not running for reelection so she could be out there every day helping Obama, but I have a hunch she won't be doing that. Instead I bet she goes around helping Democrats down ticket by showing up at their events and helping them raise money. Thus building more support with in the party for her. But at the same time not really doing much to help Obama win.
