Good luck with that.

I've often thought how far a person would get in a run for President. At which point does being a good person shoot you down?

When the gun for the race goes off, it's aimed at you

So you would agree atheism is a religion?

I would agree atheism is a lack of religion. I'm an atheist and I worship nothing and have no belief in the supernatural.

Atheism is a religion. Agnosticism is the lack of religion. If you actively choose to believe that there is no god or anything "supernatural", you've chosen to believe something you can't prove. Believing something you can't prove is the definition of faith and the cornerstone of most religions.

The only people who can truly claim to be without faith are the ones who say "I don't know."

yep, shucks, serial killers, they're nothing. That Jesus freak over there, he's the real danger to our society.

He IS a real danger to society if he's in a position to force children to be exposed to vomit like "Intelligent Design" in science class.

EDIT: P&N?
i have searched the news and i do not see any article quoting Hillary Clinton as speaking that statement.

i call shens.

she did say this recently which is not giving her good publicity:

As everyone probably knows by now, Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-NY) on Monday told a black audience at a King holiday event in New York: "Because when you look at the way the House of Representatives has been run, it has been run like a plantation. And you know what I'm talking about."
http://newsblogs.chicagotribune.com/news_theswamp/2006/01/hillary_clinton.html

Not shens, I heard her blair that out of her mouth on TV. Doesn't matter, I still have no use for that woman. I might have had a use for her 20 years ago, but we are well past that now, aren't we? ;)

The sad thing is that she was probably targeting the religious right without even a thought regarding Muslim extremists.

I think we're screwed for the next election. I'm not attached to any party, and I don't see anyone offering up anyone worthwhile. McCain COULD be a good choice, but I've heard him say some strange things over the years...

(and yes, probably P&N ;) )

really? you'd think such a bold statement would get into print, and be noted in the media too. i still can't find any mention of it this morning.

Trust us, you'll read about it. It's just, what I call, "latent news". ;)

I was reading an article about Bill the other day. I think he's a Baptist or something, and if you've ever had to deal with Baptists you know how f*cked over they are. Anyway, he had a lot of very religious friends telling him to rewrite God into the government. His answer to them was that the essence of democracy is compromise, so you can't write your own absolute truths into it and still have a democracy. Pretty impressive answer.

That's a great statement, but she is an idiot for saying it if she has any sort of hope at being president some day.

about 1% of the posters in this thread actually understood that quote.

it is severely taken out of context.

she is speaking with reference to Muslim extremist groups using their religion as the premise for attacks on other countries / beliefs.

she's right, too.

if the US can't have Bill back, I'd love to see Hilary get in there.

I think that's misinterpreting the quote. She said it's intolerance that's cloaked in religion.

Don't bother. The wackos will find a way to hate her no matter what she says or does. Remember, without rational thought anything is possible.
