I'm far from a religious person, hell I'm not even a practicing Christian but it is this type of clueless nonsense that spreads intolerance in of itself.

Religions usually built on intolerance? Right . . . please start naming the bulk of all religions that have intolerance as their cornerstone.

Statements like this usually reinforces my opinion that anti-religious people are far more close minded than religious folks.

maybe because God is intolerant. if God is good, then i'd expect him to be intolerant towards evil.

Clinton should have said:
"The biggest threat to world peace is intolerance."

Period.
By slandering religion she is, somewhat ironically, being the exact same intolerant sort of person she is attempting to attack.

She's not slandering religion. She's attacking intolerance justified by religion.

Closed minded? I think not. Perhaps you've forgotten that at the base of the three largest religions in the world, one of the central themes is that the follower may only worship one god. I would think that fits the definition of "intolerance" quite nicely. Plus not forget all those wars which have been fought in the name of "god"

Take the biggest examples, the Crusades. Many were sponsered by the Pope himself...I mean, hes only the most important person in Christianity. Surely if theres one person you can trust, it would be him...

okay granted that intolerance isn't "built-in" per say but you would be foolish to believe that religion is tolerant

I wonder if Bill would move back in the White House.

Of course he will, Hilary needs a first lady by her side.

i think we need a definition of tolerance here.

Well she's right. I'd be suspicious of anything that encourages zealotry by preaching absolutist philosophies and claim to have the final solution; movements that are hateful, resentful, or violent towards certain races, classes or people. Groups who wish to destroy before they build whether they are religious fanatics or environmentalist should be shunned.

Well, I don't think it's the biggest thread to world peace, but I do agree it is a huge problem. Man, I hate religious zealots who are so blinded by their religion.

So you would agree atheism is a religion?

Whatcha talkin' bout Willis?

People use religion as a scapegoat to carry out their politically motivated agendas. Religion has nothing to do with the bad things happening in our society. It is the people who use religion to do evil things.

All religions teach peace and acceptance.

planet you are from name it?

 That statement sounds like it came right out of a speech about terrorism. She's cozying up to christians, not attacking them.

I would agree atheism is a lack of religion. I'm an atheist and I worship nothing and have no belief in the supernatural.

EDIT: P&N?

She's just playing politician and doing it well.

She knows that many people view Bush as a Christian that is trying to force Christian values on the USA. She knows that those people dislike the idea. So, if she claims to be opposed to it, too, she'll gather their support.

Maybe, but I doubt she'd get it. I'm certain that Rove's propaganda machine is working overtime on ways to discredit her. I'm sure there's a new Swiftboat Liars style group already formed to oppose her.

With that in mind, I hope she's playing the decoy and there's another qualified candidate (NOT Kerry) waiting in the wings.
