I'm not arguing that what she did was "right", I'm just waiting for the Republicans and Fox News, etc. to come out and opine/rail against those on "their" team that did it as well. Not that that will ever happen...because you know, it's ancient history, etc. They're acting so shocked when they know they're guilty of the same thing in the past.

Where's Mitt's hard drives from when he was Gov? Oh yeah, they were destroyed, Do they mention that as an example of bad/wrong behavior, nope, not a chance.

What is the policy for Mass in terms of equipment and document retention?

Who destroyed the drive, as you stated? Were backups done? What is the policy for such?

Or are you tossing out a stray man to excuse Clinton's actions

Because Foxnews didnt go after Rove nearly 8 years ago they shouldnt go after Clinton now? Bullshit. With that type of logic we should never go after horrible behavior because somebody did it before.

We should all be disgusted when this type of behavior happens within our govt.

Not because they didn't go after him at the time, but because they won't even use it as another example of wrong behavior, they pretend it never happened/applies to anyone on their "team".
Like when they were railing about the Republican headed Benghazi report, Megan Kelly had the lead republican of the committee on her show and asked him zero questions about the report after railing about how there were questions that needed to be better answered on a earlier show. Their hypocrisy knows no bounds.

Not to mention, and most importantly.

1. Was there an ongoing investigation of Mitt's office?

2. Were the documents under subpoena?

3. Was there a reasonable expectation that they would be needed?

4. Could there be a situation of actual or perceived impropriety in the destruction?

I have had every single email under subpoena and had to produce every single email, attachment, and work product for the FBI and SEC. I was told that if I did not produce something and they searched my drives and found something not produced I could be charged with obstructing justice and contempt of court.

Do you know what I did? I went through every HDD I could find and turned over anything that was even remotely connected with the litigation. I then put the HDDs into a safety deposit box.

I was *not* going to risk my career, safety, and family, over some stupid move on my part.

But then again, I am a lay person, subject to lay laws. Hillary is not subject to those laws and the people here just prove that she doesn't need to worry that she would be.

It doesn't fucking matter if Mitt did it, or Jeb did it. IT IS WRONG. Period. Not a single one of these assholes should be excused. They count on people like you guys excusing their behavior as a way to get out of it.

You know damn well that she made a calculated move. Get rid of any incriminating or embarrassing evidence, make the excuse, take the flak, and let her acolytes lead the proles away from the problem and into the President's office. Better to beg forgiveness than ask permission.

So your complaint isn't with Clinton using private email then deleting said email. It is that her opponents are being hypocrites? Move on and let us know how you feel about Clinton.

When misguided public opinion honors what is despicable and despises what is honorable, punishes virtue and rewards vice, encourages what is harmful and discourages what is useful, applauds falsehood and smothers truth under indifference or insult, a nation turns its back on progress and can be restored only by the terrible lessons of catastrophe.”
- Frederic Bastian

An eerliy appropriate chain of thought given the course the nation is taking on Hilaries conduct regarding her use of a personal server for handling emails and her response to questions of her conduct on this topic.

The problem is not hidden between or apart from either party, it sickens both of them. Hilary can't be defended through the proxy of "what about Repug shenanigans?!" without some understanding of the total defeat that condoning Hilaries behavior under any circumstance represents for the people.

Honoring the shanigans of our day by blaming republicans appears to never get old for some dems, but there has to be more and more folks starting to take the simple step of asking "what good does that do?" We can't be this easily distracted going forward if any meaningful pivot is going to made.

Excellent post.

One problem Hilary's email exposes is a selective application of the law. Obviously the law worked to ensure that you did what was lawful and required of you. You had a reasonable expectation you had to adhere to the law, perhaps because you know you are not in a privileged position or otherwise having an ability to work around the law rather than within it. But basically, you had to take the law seriously because you will be held accountable by it.

A selective application of the Law allows for Hilary and others in protected positions of power and/or wealth to simply not adhere to the law and do so without fear of consequence.

The solution is in equal application of the law, unfortunately that "solution" is relative.

The "solution" for Hilary and others like her is precisely what we have, a selective application of the law. This gives Hilary a large pool of power to operate in that others can not enter. It's just a simple advantaged place to operate from, we don't expect folks to voluntarily give that up right? Obviously folks will seek those positions and abuse such power. Equal application of the law solves it, but it destroys Hilary. Hilary, and those like her, hold high office in our government. Problem should be clear.

The deterioration of every government begins with the decay of the principles on which it was founded.

Her initial excuse was to use one device - handling multiple devices (US Gov issued blackberry) was an inconvenience.

Yet we are now finding out that she had no problem juggling two devices - on which was an iPad.

I'm sure that lie will be explained away or rationalized by the gullible fools in her camp just like all her other lies and activities.

Or you know maybe the ipad hadn't yet been invented yet when the decision was made. Nah, she was planning on carrying two devices all along, no one just up and changes their mind on such an important and vital deciscion!/s

Lol! Speaking of gullible fools.

You have it so far up her tail that I am surprised that you can breath.

while the iPad did not come out until 2010; after that she was then able to use multiple devices;

So the following year after being in the SoS position; she magically learned to juggle two devices.

She chose to continue to not use the government system.

I am sure that she was able to juggle more than one personal phone while in the WH or one the campaign trail

Lol! She learned to juggle? I wasn't aware that her original reason for not carrying two devices was because she didn't know how to juggle two devices.

Try again idiot, this time try not twisting yourself up to justify such a stupid comment as the one I replied to;)

Lol! I'm an apologist now for pointing out facts to you? Not only did I create this thread but my position has been clear and steady. Only a complete moron such as yourself would make such a statement, then again, you are the same idiot who gets mad when people point out inconvenient facts to you.

Instead of starting a new thread I'll just leave this here:

The Kansas AG has determined that using private email to conduct public business means the emails are not public records. He is a staunch member of the GOP btw.

http://www.kansas.com/news/politics-government/article19817256.html

Not sure what that has to do with federal records laws.

The Kansas law is poorly written and the AG was interpreting it this way. There have been attempts to fix the law and remove some ambiguity. Again, not sure how this applies at all to the topic at hand.

Both parties love to avoid disclosure when they can. That's the point.

What are you talking about? The Kansas law sucks and doesn't appear to require disclosure in certain circumstances. A loophole that needs to be fixed.

What do both parties have to do with Hillary Clinton. I didn't think the topic was the Democrat party. I thought we were talking about HC here, no?

The one thing none of Hillary's critics mention is that she did not break the law as it was if effect at the time, nor did her SoS predecessors & a lot of other govt employees, the Bush Whitehouse among them.

If one wants to say it was all deplorable, that's fine, but Hillary acted no differently than the rest & probably acted under the advice of counsel.

In that, it's just another trumped up scandal like everything else Repubs have played on throughout the Obama Admin.

They need to keep the flock nicely irrational & the opposition defensive so that they won't have to Man-up to their own accomplishments, such as they are, and to their rigid ideological stance despite its failure to deliver to the American People.

It's not like they'll ever admit to a botched occupation of Afghanistan, a trumped up war of aggression in Iraq or overheating & crashing the economy with their self regulated banking mumbo-jumbo.

They'll do it all again given the opportunity, raving about self righteous moral bullshit the whole time.

while she did not break the law; she tried to avoid the guidelines/protocols that had been seet forth.

She also broke the law by not signing the document closure form when she left State.

And do we know if she turned over everything?
She destroyed any potential evidence before anyone qualified to check her server.

she must have paid attention to the IRS fiasco :)
