Iraqis may control security in 12-18 mos
By CHRISTOPHER BODEEN, Associated Press Writer
U.S. officials said Tuesday Iraq's government has agreed to develop a timeline for progress by the end of the year, and Iraqi forces should be able to take full control of security in the country in the next 12 to 18 months with "some level" of American support.
In three years the amount of land the Iraqis can control is ZERO (exluding the Kurds). There is not one square inch of Iraq that they could defend (or are WILLING) to defend on their own.
The Iraqi army is full of officers and men who are fighting AGAINST the current government of Iraq.
The Iraqi army just dismissed hundreds of officers for links to death squads.
Who here believes the Iraqis could take full control of security with "some level" of American support in 12-18 months? What idiocy.
It is unlikely they could do so in 5-10 YEARS.
Things have been getting worse, not better.
