I had to take an IQ test in 9th grade as part of an "evaluation" ordered by the my school at the time (new trier in chicago). When you do really bad there they figure you must be retarded or something :p so they put you through a string of tests. Showed up stoned for the test and got a 132. :p

Based on every IQ thread I've read on ATOT, it appears everyone in the top 10% are ATOT members! What are the odds?

I think the source mentioned in the first post is very very questionable.

mcPhreak is right about his observation than a lot of ATers lie about their IQ scores or were given inaccurate tests. I know lots of people who scored well over 100 and I can't help but wonder if maybe whoever administered it was looking for a way to bump their self-esteem.

Also IQ is not constant. If you score 150 IQ when you're 6 it doesn't mean you won't have a very average one when you're 16. All IQ is is a score based upon what your peers in the same category scored, so if you did better than most people at 6 maybe you're just an early bloomer. If you did badly you may do well later on if you're a late bloomer.

isn't IQ somehow correlated to common sense and the ability to fit into society? if you look at the geniuses throughout history, most (if not all) of them are somewhat weird. and the kids at school, who are ungodly smart, don't seem to fit in well, nor know how to act in certain social situations. with that said, let me ask you this:

would you sacrifice a "normal" life for a higher IQ?

what is the anwser and why?

I'll give you the last letter and probably at least 75% of you still wouldn't get it. (I didn't either)

G

Once you find out what this string of letters represents, you'll realize just how farked up this test is.

BTW, if anyone wants to know where I got "G" from, it stands for "Greed", or perhaps "Gluttony".

So, if you have a high IQ, congratulations. You're an endless source of useless trivia.

Perhaps. IQ really means very little, as IQ is in way indicative of how prolific one can be.

You obviously misunderstand the concept of one's IQ. An IQ has absolutely nothing to do with knowledge (trivia).

Ideally, no. An IQ isn't supposed to have anything to do with trivia. But the tests which they throw out to measure one's IQ, much like any other standardized test, is a test of "Have you ever heard this one before?"

Whatever you do, don't take one of those stupid online exams or from the book. There are organizations out there that should be able to test you. Remember, the real IQ tests need to take your age into consideration.

Your parents may be proud of your high IQ when you're six. But when you grow older, what matters to you is mostly MEI!

This is a pretty wierd coincidence, as I just found out about William James Sidis a few days ago (thanks to the yahoodi site) and have been learning a great deal about him since. I put in an inter-library loan request for a copy of Amy Wallace's bio of Sidis; The Prodigy. What this guy did was truly fantastic, although sadly we have probably lost much of his work (that and he was a bit of a nutball.)

Anyway, I have taken many different IQ tests and depending on the ammount of sleep I get and the type of test, my scores have ranged from 116 (on one of those stupid symbol tests) to 168. The vast majority of tests I have taken usually show me to be closer to a high 140's low 150's IQ. It might be genes because my mom was tested at 164 IQ.

I also think it is quite possible that there are a disproportionate ammount of genius-like people on ATOT. First off, there are probably several thousand people checking the threads regularly. Of those, the only people who will post, for the most part, are those who are proud of their IQ score and willing to share. I see this alot. For example I frequent the Princeton Review board and judging from the posts there you would think everyone got a 1450+ and had Ivy League acceptances, however it is human nature to keep quiet on these things unless you can bring something to the table, so to speak.
