"Most people have an IQ in the 90 - 109 range. You're considered a genius if your IQ is 132 or above. Chris Langan has an IQ of 195, the highest known IQ in the US. He started talking at 6 months and by age 4 could read and comprehend books. His IQ puts him in the same class as Sir Isaac Newton and Michelangelo. He's in his mid-forties, and he works as a part-time bouncer at a bar and lives in a one-room house on $6,000 a year. He's not a success by most modern standards. Then there's William James Sidis with his highest ever known IQ estimated at between 250 and 300. At eighteen months he could read The New York Times, at two he taught himself Latin, at three he learned Greek. By the time he was an adult he could speak more than forty languages and dialects. He spent most of his life wandering from one menial job to another. [Source: Boogie Jack ]

I knew I shouldn't have trusted that web based IQ test.... darn thing said 236 one time and the second time it said 222.

I have taken a MENSA grade IQ Test and scored 185.

That's the expression I was trying to think of, thanks.
I must be close to brain dead with an IQ of only ~135.

Is having good memory considered smart?
because a lot people seems to be smart because they have a photograhic memory. but i interept it as having a big and reliable harddrive. but the real smart lies in logic processing, or cpu processing power if u wanna do an analogy.

i think they measure eq now too:p emotional intelligence is another indicator in how well you do in life. all iq and no eq = suckage.

being an idiot savant that can memorize a phonebook like rainman does you know good. basically down sydrome:p then theres mild forms like aspergers where its helpful in highly technical fields.. still sucks if your eq is totally crap.

unfda 152 ~ 160 (different tests this year, latest was 160) these there are them there officiated tests. I may have a high IQ but yet I still can't spell worth sh!t. (yes professionally administered) have to take them for school every 4 years to keep my IEP TAG qualifications. its a waste of time if you ask me tho.

Why do I have a feeling this is going to turn into a "I scored xxx at age yy! oh and I wasn't even trying" thread.

Strangely enough, I don't find it that unusual that some of these recognized geniuses ended up doing nothing of great merit. I think a lot of intelligent people have very little motivation because they realize there's not much of a point to existence, and not much matters in the grand scheme of things.
