high school class ring worth buying?

I guess it depends.

I had one in high school, and I'm glad I bought it. I don't wear it anymore, but I wore it all the time during senior year... it's just one of those obligatory high school traditions.

IMO it really isn't. It's like a letterman's jacket or playing on the football team. Some people swear by it, but a great many people don't and never have. No one in my immediate family bought a class ring or ever described it as anything but a waste of money.

Of course, it's played up by Josten's as "an irreplaceable part of your high school experience", and the same people who say things like "our high school romance will last forever" eat that sh!t up like sugar candy. Josten's makes a ton of money off of people who have nothing better to do with their money than spend it on cheap kids' jewelry.

Not that I'm bitter. 😀

It depends how much it means to you and if there is some specific reason you want it. If you play a sport maybe it'll be nice 20 years from now looking at the ring with a symbol of the sport you played or still play.

Me? I'm a junior in HS and haven't bought one

that's what you get for going to public school 😉

no school pride. heh. I still bust out the ring for reunions and such.

lol Ayup. I figure by the time I have reunions coming around I'll have other things to show off, like my giant wang.

penile implant? Otherwise...i'd refrain from calling it "giant".

i wentto a top tier private college, and i didnt buy one

they cost too much 500$+ and they are ugly

If nothing else it is an excellent tool to put a lump on someone's head. I lost mine a few years ago I think my exGF's roomate stole it) and was thinking about replacing it.

Nope, I thought about it back when I was in HS, but decided against it. I don't know one person from my class that bought one.

I wouldn't buy one... I had a letter jacket that I loved dearly simply because it was warm and comfortable. I never bought the ring though... I took a lot of shop classes and would have taken it off every day, so I figured that I would stop wearing it, and I wouldn't wear it past high school, so I told my parents to save their money.

Take the money you would have spent and put it away for college (you can always use extra scratch), or spend it on a senior trip.

14 isn't the end of puberty, you know. I've grown a lot since then.

Umm, you're nto a Senior so you there would be no point in you buying one. You know, cause it's a class ring of a class you're not apart of 😉

you can buy them in advance. i bought mine my sophomore or junior year i think... no wait... i got my letterman jacket my junior year and the ring my senior year. but anyways, you can buy it in advance, as they look for every way to get money out of you.

and yes i have both. i have the ring but i got a more important ring to wear so it's currently stashed away.

i didn't get one for college though - i wanted a much smaller one (i got the smallest one possible in high school) but i didn't like the designs. fine by me, my car flashes where i went to school anyways.

Only when doing the polar bear run. When it's not blue and wrinkled I can easily reach... well, you'll find out soon enough anyway. 😛 :Q

you might be able to give it to a girl in exchange for her virginity. but it's usefulness pretty much ends there, unless you can steal it back and use it again for the same purpose.

Gonna hafta say no.

When I was in high school and never bothered to order a ring my classmates were all "omgwtf! why aren't you buy-eeing a wriiiiing!?!? they're sooooo clooooool!"

Maybe for $5, but definitely not for $300. No point.
