You are not alone my friend. If everybody could easily afford these cards, nobody would ever have anything less than the best. Which would be no fun because the e-p3nis thing would be kinda moot. 😀

How do they compare to regular GTX SLI?

Honestly? Not much difference.
But it's refreshing to see "Ultra Quality" set by default in Doom3 after I reinstalled it. 🙂

I have neither of those card. I upgraded 3 month ago from an Asus GeForce TI 4600 to a BFG GeForce 6800GT OC 256Mb.

I am still under AGP with socket A and an Athlon XP 3000+.

With 2 GB of Corsair Memory, I run BF2 at high with a good framerate, even thought the memory can only run at 333mhz (limited by the cpu).

I think evga's step-up program is a good indication of availability.

I decided to try out the step-up program. I was just barely in the 90-day step-up limit (I was on day 86 when the 512MB was launched), and I paid roughly $575 US for my 7800GTX (based on current CDN exchange rates). That meant the step-up would be less than $200 for me (and include COD2), so why not.

They held ten cards for the step-up program. They have announced the next ten people on the list (for a total of 20 cards) and I'm still not up in the queue. I find it a little disturbing that many hardware sites have referred to the 7800GTX 512MB as a "hard launch". Seems like more of a "semi" to me.

I presenty own a X1800Xl Core @625 memory 650 Intel P4 670@ 4.4 GHz 3D Mark 05 score 9214.
I just ordered a 7800GTX 512 but its out of stock.
After reading article on Chinesse web site about ASUS X18ooXt 10,000 + in 3Dmark 05
Iam thinking of cancling my order . So confused.

It would seem that you cant justify a video card purchase from 3Dmark05 alone. You have to visit review sites and look at gaming benchmarks and look at the games you play/want to play. The difference between a X1800XT and a 7800GTX512 in 3Dmark05 is not very large. Only 600 to 800 points. The real world gaming benchmarks are where the rubber meets the road as far as I'm concerned. Hope this helps with your confusion.
