yup, me too. my life story (not that anybod cares): geforce 4 mx440-->8500-->geforce 4 ti4200-->9700 pro-->9800pro-->x800xl-->7800gt (all cards fromt the 9800pro have been 256mb, geforce mx to 9700pro were 128mb)

Some may seem like useless upgrades, but the > doesn't indicate an upgrade. Just that I purchased the card, either for myself, a friend, or a family member's pc (dad/sister).

well, my lifeline of video cards starts quite a bit before the first card i mentioned, i had a gefore 2 before that, couldnt remember which though, and my firstest computer was an ancient ibm that had who knows what integrated graphics.

btw, nice lineup of cards there

I started off on a Commodore64, back when floppy's were actually floppy. Played games like Test Drive, Guantlet, StarTrek, Wizards.. or something, and this crappy witch game. It was my dad's, and of course, when he left his Commodore Amiga, I inherited that (which is when the REAL gaming began). Had a few PC's in transition to the first one I can remember, a Pentium (I think) 90Mhz.

yeah, i had a few pentiums along the way too, but one of my favorites was a pentium 2 (my first p2) 233mhz. i got it free from my aunt, and for the time, it wasnt too bad. haha, she couldnt get it working, shipped it to me from florida, and i plugged it in and it worked! talk about luck

Seriously I just got a 7800 GTX two months ago.
I kinda wish the SLI can perform something like CrossFire does so I can hook the 512MB GTX to my current 256MB GTX.
Otherwise, I'll just wait till the prices settle down and get another 256MB GTX for even lower prices.

Of course it is, but there is not question of availability for the 7800GTX.
Thats is all this poll is for, to see how available the x1800XT and 7800GTX512 cards are.

7800GT, X1800XL are also high end. But they are easily obtained.

They're easily obtainable if you have the will and cash to do so. I have the cash, but it doesn't make sense to me to buy a $700 video card and shell out $300 for an incremental upgrade ($700 + ~$400 I would get for selling my 7800GTX). Heck, I'd be better served just buying another 7800GTX.

Great idea keys, in a couple of days we should be able to see just how high (or low) availability on both ultra highend cards is. The one problem is that availabilty doesn't mean people will buy them, the price of the 512MB GTX will limit the number of people who will buy them (considering many already bought a regular GTX or 2).

I agree the prices are steep, but that doesn't seem to deter folks from buying them, even two at a clip. Most people who buy the GTX512 most likely have a GTX or two in SLI already and sell them to absorb the brunt of the cost, so these will sell without issue even at the stellar price.
And yes you're right, as the weeks progress, we will get a better indicator of availability on the Uber high end.

No because you can be waiting for weeks and maybe still not get it. I want only to see who has these cards in their rigs and working or at the very least has these cards in hand and waiting for mobos/cpus etc. for a new build. That would be an indicator of availabilty. Having them "on order" and physically having one are two completely different things. Especially when the online tracking indicates that the card is packed and waiting for delivery, but the vendor you paid the money to is banking on a shipment to fulfill that order. So there isn't anything but "Jack sh!t" packed and ready to go. Even if you have a tracking number and you see your package is en-route, don't use the poll until you physically receive the card/s in your hands.
