As explained earlier, you probably didn't clear the MBR when you formatted. Follow the instructions that I posted above to properly clear the MBR. A simple reformat is not enough.
I formatted the whole system including the MBR and I am still having similar problems. The CPU usage is no longer around 100% but the performance is still unbelievably low.
are u sure you still cant see the processes running? it really sounds like some virus is running in the background. I had a Klez virus variant which infected my other pc. It really slowed down performance alot since it used up the CPU 100%. You couldnt even use NAV to detect it since the virus compromised the scanner already. It even tries spreading through the LAN making multiple copies of itself. It was pretty bad. The only way I could get rid of it was reformatting. But it sounds like you might have a possibly worse virus.
try downloading and running taskinfo2000 to see whats running.
my cpu usage is usually just 2%-4% idle running a whole bunch of instant messengers among other stuff.
maybe grab a screen shot of the processes running and post it so others can see.
They want you to low level format the drives write ones and zeros gets rid of everything on the drive. Why don't you compare your scores with other pcmark scores. What kind of raid setup is it? Raid-0 or raid-1 if using raid convert your disks to dynamic disks. Go to disk management and you should see your drives. Right click drive and convert. This will improve performance some.
