My wife minored in photography at college, and she uses a camera that is 37 years old. Obviously everything is completely manual, and she wants a camera that she can completely control. I would like for it to be digital, but either way... So I'm always looking for good cameras... This has impressed me very much, so I know what brand to get now.

Well, I'm very happy with my own canon, but I wouldn't count out other brands. There are a lot of great options out there.

From my own experience I think I'm going to stick with canon because of my great experience with this one, but if I do get a new one, I'm going to look at other offerings too. I don't want to limit myself before I start 🙂

I used to be a die-hard Kodak person, until they started coming out with the "stupid" cameras. If you can't figure out how to download the pics from the card in your digital camera, you shouldn't have a digital camera. UGH! But I've stuck with Sony for pretty much everything else, and I've never been disappointed. Even my camera I have now--it serves it's purpose by far--I just need a camera to do more now... But like with my TRV33 camcorder--I couldn't be happier... I've used that thing, and it is still going amazingly... I love it.

Well, I do think it's nice that there are some cameras out there that are trying to make it easier for some people to understand what's going on, but I wouldn't get one myself 🙂

I'm not going to blind my eye trying to take such a pic but I did a 0cm of a bug (potato bug I think it was). It was a nice bug and held still while I tried a bunch of different methods to get a good shot of it. 🙂

Is that an earwig? I hate those things.

The A40 was, well, in an accident awhile back. It was on the top of my entertainment center downstairs, and my cat that thinks it's a dog tried to pick up the camera by the wrist strap and jump down with it in his mouth. Needless to say, the camera hit the floor when el stupido the cat realized it was a lot heavier than expected, it hit the floor hard...probably a 6 foot drop to a hard surface. Ever since then, the left side of any picture is always out of focus...

For example...

You can see what I mean in this pic...

lol, forgive me if I laugh at that

I'd recommend you hide the S2 IS from the cats once you get it. We can't have you damaging a nice camera like that. 😉

(I want one. 🙁)

🙁 sorry to hear that.

For myself though, I'm glad to hear that it was actually an accident that did it though and it didn't just wear out.

I don't think I can justify a new camera purchase anytime soon though unless this A40 meets its doom too.
