Some of you may remember that I took some pictures of my eye a while ago when I was bored. I have a 3 year old Canon A40 and some lenses I bought for it and got the following results:

My eye

I was looking through the differences between the S2 IS and the older S1 and I noticed that the focus changed to 0cm for minimum. I don't know much about cameras really but I assume this means you can get as close as you want and it will still focus?

So, I'm requesting some awesome high res pictures of your eyes to show off your awesome cameras :D

Again, my results are off a 2.0 mp Canon Powershot A40 with a 3rd party Macro lense and then I compressed the image, so it should be really easy to get something better than I got. I await your results

EDIT: ended up posting some less cool ones too

eye3

(my own eye is just naturally awesome)

EDIT#2: foud a couple others I forgot about

Yeah, I like the reflection. It almost looks like the pattern you get with oil on water on the left side.

My DSC-F707 has built-in macro. I use it whenever I get closer than 18 inches. It's awesome.
It's a fvcked up machine that sits right between point and shoot and dslr.
The focal range is huge and it takes excellent pics at 5.0 MP.
My next will be the dsc-f828 if Sony doesn't come out with the next generation of the 828 before xmas.

Do you have a link to the lens you are using? I've decided to upgrade my camera because I can't do some close-in shots that I want, and that is just amazing (your eye pic). I'm having trouble believing that is real...
Tas.

I actually got them off ebay.

I looked just now and didn't see a set just like the one I got.

The brand was "Digital Optics"

Here's my set

And while I was over at my center channel...

My tweeter is a little dirty even though I keep the grilles on all the time :p

Very impressive. Can you post a pic zoomed out of your eye? (My wife doesn't believe that is a pic. We're photographers and all, and we work in PS to make stuff look like that... :) ). If you don't mind. Looks like I'm getting a Canon now.
Tas.

I have other pics in my sig of other people's eyes if that's enough proof for you.

It's in Home Theater, then random, then eyes.

If you want more though, I can do it.

It just takes a while because I have to get a miror behind my camera and look to see if I have it at the right distance for the focus to be right.

Jello that eye pic is just fantastic. This was on auto? What kind of post-processing did you do?

Hey - I recognize that tweet! When I get my Rebel XT (soon, very soon) I'll try some close ups of mine. :)

Oh, okay. I didn't mean to trouble you. I couldn't open any links in your signature (work machine blows). It's not so much that we don't believe as would like to see more. :)

Yep, auto. I think the only thing I did to it was I increased the color saturation a bit since it was kind of washed out due to the flash being so close.

mmmm, vifa.

Well, here's a couple more for you.

I don't actually remember whose eyes these are. I took some of my gf, my mom, my sister, one of my friends from HS, and a couple college friends.

I'll have to warn you that my eye is naturally awesome, so these aren't as cool.

Damn that's amazing.... hehehehehe. I want to do it now too.... hehehehehehe. Guess I'll see what I can do with my little Sony POS (point or shoot). :) I should have kept my old Kodak I think. Oh well though. My camcorder makes up for my little camera.
I'm glad you posted this thread... Definitely going to be getting a Canon now. Can they high end Canons do this as well?
Tas.

My own camera wouldn't do nearly this well without the added lenses. I was kind of trying to figure this out for myself because if I were to get a new camera right now, I think the S2 IS is what I would get. I wanted to see what these eye shots turned out like to make sure I wouldn't be missing just about the coolest thing my current camera can do :p

My wife minored in photography at college, and she uses a camera that is 37 years old. Obviously everything is completely manual, and she wants a camera that she can completely control. I would like for it to be digital, but either way... So I'm always looking for good cameras... This has impressed me very much, so I know what brand to get now.
