Taco Bell Clarifies: That Recent Lawsuit Is Bogus—Our Seasoned Beef Recipe Is 88% Beef!

I think they're lying.

That does not look like what ends up in the taco.

They'd be pretty stupid to lie after a lawsuit has been filed. A simple subpoena will force them to disclose exactly what's in their product.

Our recipe for seasoned beef includes ingredients you'd find in your home or in the supermarket aisle today:

88% USDA-inspected quality beef
3-5% water for moisture
3-5% spices (including salt, chili pepper, onion powder, tomato powder, sugar, garlic powder, cocoa powder and a proprietary blend of Mexican spices and natural flavors).
3-5% oats, starch, sugar, yeast, citric acid, and other ingredients that contribute to the quality of our product.

ttorneys this week dropped a lawsuit that alleged that Taco Bell’s beef was mostly not beef, both sides of the once-contentious legal battle said.

Alabama-based law firm Beasley Allen brought the class-action lawsuit in January and claimed that lab tests had shown that the eatery’s beef was actually only 35 percent beef. The plaintiffs said they wanted the fast food restaurant to stop referring to its products as beef.

Taco Bell’s leadership had vowed to fight the lawsuit and in January launched a newspaper attack slamming the litigation as “absolutely false.“

LOL good for taco bell. TB should sue them for this!~

Ha. Yes, they should definitely counter sue - even though the suit was dropped, Taco Bell got a LOT of negaitve press over this - negative press that was clearly unwarranted.

I like how TB was quick to point out in their statement that they did not pay these people to keep quiet, either.

They already did on their website and if you look at the ingredients on the package, many are spices. TB even provides the reasoning why they include every ingredient in their beef.

I had taco bell for lunch today. Quad Steak Burrito and a 1/2 lb Cheesy Potato Burrito. They were delicious.

i hope TB throws everything at this firm. They're even running FULL PAGE ADS.. basically asking for an apology laced with 'if you don't apologize, you're going to wish you did' language. I love it.

3 + 2 + 2 + 1 + 1/2 hour of labor $20.00 = 28 bucks for 8 tacos
Unless you can prove that you would otherwise have spent that half hour working for an employer who pays you $40 an hour for said work AND that someone would reasonably pay an employee $40 an hour to make tacos, I'm not buying that. At all.
