In my opinion, people who try to calculate the cost of their time for everyday tasks like making meals (which entails hanging out with the family), washing clothes, picking up around the house, etc, must lead a miserable life.

Anyone who makes drive-through level fast food a staple of their diet is either criminally lazy or an idiot or both, but Taco Bell et. al. have their place and, honestly, serve it well.

I eat TB maybe once every couple of months, and enjoy the convenience, speed, low cost and cheap gustatory thrills each and every time.

Slather their hot sauce over that combo of taco crunch, mystery meat-like substance and cheese-like flakes with some visible vegetable component which is made, delivered and eaten in a matter of minutes for a buck or less and you've got a deal, boy-o!

The 35% bad beef mixture plugs right into the eons-old "I have run down and killed and am now knawing the meat off the bones of this eland-like creature" receptors that lurk deep within our brains, and the cheese-based strands are there because, on this level of "food", even bad cheese makes everything that better.

It's what made this grand republic of ours prosperous and great: science in the service of commerce, and almost makes me want to vote the straight Republican ticket.

I really did think this was the old snopes rumor rearing its head again, but turns out it isn't. Can you imagine the damage to "yum brands" (the chinese owners of KFC, Taco Bell, and Pizza hut) if they really do out the constituents of taco meat in open court?

I fondly recall Taco Bell in the 80's well before its acquisition as an excellent choice in food. I also recall Pizza Hut being actually good, vs. the garbage that is produced now. And I also remember going to an actual restaurant with waiters and everything. Same goes for KFC.

I remember my brother telling me about 10 years ago that Taco Bell was grade D in food quality. What he meant was all food is graded (like Eggs, AAA, AA, A, etc), and grade D is actually a lower grade than dog food. He used to tell me that I'd be better off buying a can of dog food than eating what came in Taco Bell.

I guess there might be some truth to that after all.

yip pizza hut used to be really good but now its worse than dominoes.

I remember when the meat actually looked like hamburger and would even drop grease into the paper wrapper it was served in ( instead of being absorbed by the filler and held i the taco). I had friends that worked at bell and when they dumped the meat into a cooker they only put a few cups of filler/seasonings in the meat before it was cooked.

Taco bell started going downhill like 15 years ago.

Figure this can make 8 tacos or 6 burritos, not counting the tomatos or beans they also use.

Figure it will take about a half hour to brown the beef and make the tacos

I can drive my happy ass down to Taco bell and get 8 99 cent tacos for 8 bucks or chicken soft tacos for $.89 apiece.

Taco bell may not be tastier, but it is a lot cheaper and a lot more convenient. I didn't factor in taco seasoning, cleanup costs or dish soap or any of that.

ability to make 10 taco's about $10 not even close to the $20 you claim.

also next time you make taco's you already has the cheese and hot sauce. so all you need is hamburger and the shells. so the cost is far far cheaper.

yeah i worked at taco bell a long time ago. we used to make the meat up a few times a day. then they switched to a system where you boil the bag of meat and dump it in the container.

though its not bad. but not something i would eat more then maybe twice a month.
