3 + 2 + 2 + 1 + 1/2 hour of labor $20.00 = 28 bucks for 8 tacos
Did you just seriously factor labor into your taco cost? Hahaha, don't flatter yourself...

When you run a side business from home, you need to factor your time in. Would you rather be making money, or making tacos?

Meh, the soy is probably better for us than the beef anyhow.
I really did think this was the old snopes rumor rearing its head again, but turns out it isn't. Can you imagine the damage to "yum brands" (the chinese owners of KFC, Taco Bell, and Pizza hut) if they really do out the constituents of taco meat in open court?
http://www.yum.com/
I fondly recall Taco Bell in the 80's well before its acquisition as an excellent choice in food. I also recall Pizza Hut being actually good, vs. the garbage that is produced now. And I also remember going to an actual restaurant with waiters and everything. Same goes for KFC.
I remember my brother telling me about 10 years ago that Taco Bell was grade D in food quality. What he meant was all food is graded (like Eggs, AAA, AA, A, etc), and grade D is actually a lower grade than dog food. He used to tell me that I'd be better off buying a can of dog food than eating what came in Taco Bell.
I guess there might be some truth to that after all.![]()
Holy shit...this should shutup the people in the recent Taco Smell thread.
If you feed your children this garbage more than once a month (we are all human, and it is tasty!) it is child abuse. Flat out.
Wasn't this the first ep of Cooking Master Boy?
http://www.businessweek.com/lifestyle/content/healthday/627894.htmlBut the largest bump occurred in the youngest age group, those between 20 and 29 years old. Incident rates in this age range rose 5.2 percent a year in men and 5.6 percent a year in women.
Siegel said more research is needed to identify the underlying cause for the age disparity in colorectal cancer rates.
"We aren't sure exactly what's going on," she said. "But, clearly, I think the increased rates among younger adults, while low, are substantial and need some attention. For now we can say that there is obviously an obesity epidemic going on in the U.S., and so that probably has something to do with it. Also, there has been a change in dietary patterns over the past couple of decades, reflected in an increase in fast-food consumption and red meat consumption among young people."

1 lb ground beef is about 3 bucks on sale
cheese is a couple bucks
sauce is a couple bucks
Shells about a buck or two
Figure this can make 8 tacos or 6 burritos, not counting the tomatos or beans they also use.
Figure it will take about a half hour to brown the beef and make the tacos
3 + 2 + 2 + 1 + 1/2 hour of labor $20.00 = 28 bucks for 8 tacos
OR
I can drive my happy ass down to Taco bell and get 8 99 cent tacos for 8 bucks or chicken soft tacos for $.89 apiece.
Taco bell may not be tastier, but it is a lot cheaper and a lot more convenient. I didn't factor in taco seasoning, cleanup costs or dish soap or any of that.
Taco bell wasnt always so nasty.
I remember when the meat actually looked like hamburger and would even drop grease into the paper wrapper it was served in ( instead of being absorbed by the filler and held i the taco). I had friends that worked at bell and when they dumped the meat into a cooker they only put a few cups of filler/seasonings in the meat before it was cooked.
Taco bell started going downhill like 15 years ago.
How much did this post cost you?
In my opinion, people who try to calculate the cost of their time for everyday tasks like making meals (which entails hanging out with the family), washing clothes, picking up around the house, etc, must lead a miserable life.

Oh no, not my labor. This is an estimate of what the average neffing ATOTr makes when they aren't out with their supermodel girlfriend driving their Hummers around postulating about treadmills and airplanes.
