Omg, after reading your guide I just found out my EMI springs are like totally wrong, they are pushed in instead of on top... Do you know how much of a difference it would make if it stayed there?

I don't know much about EMI itself, but the primary concern I have isn't the EMI problem, it's just that a wayward EMI spring can short stuff electrically by grounding stuff that it shouldn't, out and then your computer won't compute. :p Anyway, glad it helped :)

That post was made before the forum software upgrade. If you look around lots of threads with quotes posted before hand have lost formatting.

By the way, thanks to Vegetto, the guide will soon feature a full page showing the installation of a Pentium4 and its heatsink/fan unit, possibly with a video clip if I have enough web space left!

I'll take some better pics of installing the stock heatsink when I get an SP-94. I can also make a mini guide for installing a bolt-on heatsink if mech wants ;)

Well, the last time AnandTech Moderator was over for dinner, I accidentally spilled spaghetti sauce on that hot leopard-print dress (rrrowr! :D) she likes so much, so I'm sort of in the doghouse over that... :( No stickies for me! :(

(I *swear* it was an accident! :p)

You should recommend people work in the nude to decrease static generated on the body (good way to freak out roomates walking into a room fall of cardboard boxes, computers parts, and a nude guy in the center of it all).

Awesome guide, that would be a ton of help to someone new just starting out. :)

I don't know if this has already been pointed out, but in one part it shows a hard drive laying on top of an antistatic bag for protection. Due to the way antistatic bags work, which is to redirect the static electricity around the bag to protect what is inside of it, there's no real purpose in making a point of laying it on top of the bag. The only way antistatic bags protect electronic devices is if they are actually inside the bag.

*shrug* Don't think it really matters, but just thought I'd point it out so people don't get a false sense of security or anything :D
