Dude, nothing wrong with that.... I've started out as friends with most of the girls I have been with.

It's just the way I do it.. it's not like I know them all my life... just get to know them a little better first. :)

That actually works sometimes.

Yeah take it from me, it helps...although for some reason I end up being better friends with them after the breakup...sad...

By "trying to start something more than a freindship with" you really mean "doing the same basic stuff I'd do with my male friends: I never tried to touch her, or kiss her, or tell her that I liked her, but instead acted the same as if she had been male, except more nervous", right?

When you're thinking "Hmm, I wonder if I can put my hand on her shoulder, do you think she'll mind? I wonder what she'll think... Will she like it?" you'd better be 15 years old.

Women like to be touched. If you take them out on a date, make it clear that it's a date. They won't be afraid to have you put your arm around them or hold thier hand. If the date goes well, it's not uncommon to get a goodnight kiss at the end.

You have to be more assertive, and make your intentions known.

i know this, that whole thought process dosen't go through my head. she's already told me that she dosen't like the guys that are all 'touchy feely' ... so i figured that it would be in my best interests if i didn't go that route.. right?

putting your arm around her on a date isn't "touchy feely". That would be when you try to feel her up in the movie theater.

The fact is, you never communicated to her that you wanted to be more than friends, so she didn't know that. If you don't want to touch her, you're welcome to just tell her how much you like her.

Anyway, if she really didn't want to be touched AT ALL, you wouldn't want her as a girlfriend anyway.

So, what did you say, and what did she say, and how many months did you let a friendship develop before you tried it?

True.

It means that either she is suffering from some bad past experience or it is an indirect way of saying, "I have no interests in you." Or she is just one of those "play hard to get" or one of those who do like you but convince themselves somehow that they don't. Or one of those who kinda liked you but as soon as they find hints that you like her, she loses interest.

If you want it to work, try it in the first few dates next time. And make it clear it's a date!
