i told her how i felt about her (need spacifics?)
she said she wasent' ready for another guy in her life and just wants to be really good friends, how i'm a really great person and i'm her best guy friend...
about 4.5 / 5 months

If you want it to work, try it in the first few dates next time. And make it clear it's a date!

weve never really had 'dates' it's always been group activities, actually last friday would've probably been our first date, we just sat around at my house, watched some movies, things like that (i guess she dosen't like the big party scene... so we just stayed home) she said she had a really great time, on her weblog (i know  ) she said "i spent friday night with a really awsome guy... you know who you are" :)

idk, i'm kinda confused/lost...

True.

It means that either she is suffering from some bad past experience or it is an indirect way of saying, "I have no interests in you." Or she is just one of those "play hard to get" or one of those who do like you but convince themselves somehow that they don't. Or one of those who kinda liked you but as soon as they find hints that you like her, she loses interest.

bad past experience, about 2 yrs ago now... not really suffering, she's sort of weary of guys in general though.

you like nice geeks though? :p

hi YOU! :) nice geeks are even better, as long as they're men (certain qualifications are required to be considered a member of class MALE, in addition to the obvious).

Oh wow! Look at that geek. He's so cool! He even smokes pot. Look! He's got a new female friend. How shocking. For someone who smokes pot, I'm surprised you have that much trouble finding a chick.

But that aside, congratulations for finding a new female friend. I didn't know that it was that much difficult for some people because I tend to have so many male friends.

Enjoy her company. (Hoping Steve0 gets the sarcasm. Reading your whines about some girl you met and were interested in just cracks me up. Remember that one that you claimed was sending you signals and said that she wouldn't mind dating you?)

maybe you're trying too hard... just go out and meet more people, eventually you'll find someone who wants more than a friendship with you.

Did I miss something? Luvly always seemed okay to me...

All right! You edited your comment, Stev0. So, I'll let it die, but I was prepared to give you one. I'm glad you feel much better now adn reconsidered your post. :) If you had such change in attitude and positive attitude, getting a girl would be no problem.

i edited it because it wasen't worth the argument. I normally have a happy attitude, or so i think, but when people come in and start poking fun at things that i take seriously, i get mad. im sure you would be the same way if you were to ask a similar question and i came in and replied with something to how your a fool and said guy dosen't like you and wants nothing to do with you. (fyi, this is the same girl)

as for smoking pot, that had nothing to do with the question that i asked, since she has no problem with marijuana, only alcohol. i would rather this thread didn't start into a discussion on smoking pot vs not.

I think that luvly was referring to the fact that pot smokers usually don't have these problems. At least that was my interpretation of what she wrote, but I don't want to put words into her mouth. Interestingly, this is also covered in Ladder Theory, under the section "The Deconstruction of Attraction":

Women seem to especially like it if you are more devoted to your bad music, biker gang, forearm tattoo or marijuana. These all seem to work wonders. There are some interests you can show in a woman that will help you to fvck her: a healthy interest in destroying her self-esteem and in fvcking her friends more than her seem to work wonders. Note that the following topics of disinterest have been field tested and shown conclusively not to work: Unix, literature, poetry, international politics, and sodomy.

edit: BTW the complete and total solution to your problem is as follows:

You can see that a lot of problems can be avoided [...] by declaring as soon as possible to a girl that you will not be friends under any circumstances. You can explain that she is too attractive or you can be blunt and say you don't want to bend your "friends" over a table and fvck them, but would rather play poker and go to the races with them, thus disqualifying her from friendship. As long as you are clear. This may scare a girl away. But if it does what would you want with such a skittish little twit anyway?

Dude, nothing wrong with that.... I've started out as friends with most of the girls I have been with.

It's just the way I do it.. it's not like I know them all my life... just get to know them a little better first. :)

That actually works sometimes.

Yeah take it from me, it helps...although for some reason I end up being better friends with them after the breakup...sad...

so there still might be hope??!!

of-freakin'-course!

i wouldn't doubt it at all.

Stev0, you didn't see me criticise the fact that you smoked pot, did you? Bizmark got the gist of my post. Read his quote and you'll get the point of it. My position on pot smoking would be an entirely different subject. I wouldn't participated in the pot thread if that was my intent or the point of my post here. ;) :)

They're trying to say that if you smoke pot, it usually means you are more 'friendly' with people when you are high and often a little less...... how to say it... ?guarded? about yourself. It's like being drunk. It goes something like this.

Drunk man meets drunk woman.
Drunk man kisses drunk woman because he can't think too well.
Drunk woman kisses back.
Drunk man and drunk woman wake up for breakfast together the next morning.

People often use drugs as a common interest to center a relationship around. There are many ways to interpret it.

1) what Ag said
2) pot smokers are often, well, laid back even when they're not smoking pot. They aren't the type to over-analyze a silly male-female relationship, and therefore they aren't likely to fall into this trap. Again a generalization, but I think it largely holds true. (No, I don't smoke pot and I never have.)
3) If you smoke pot, and a girl knows this, then you automatically become somewhat more exciting to her. The illegality, the idea that you willingly break the law and don't give a damn, makes you more attractive in her eyes.

BTW luvly will you marry me? :D
