"The Food and Drug Administration rule change would mean brewers would have to meet the same standards as livestock and pet-food manufacturers, imposing new sanitary handling procedures, record keeping and other food safety processes on brewers."

So holding them to the same standards as others is unfair?

“This regulation is onerous and expensive, but really it’s just unnecessary. There has never been a single reported negative incidence with spent grain," Thorne said in a statement.

A solution for a problem that doesn't exist?

Same standard as others for what? Has feeding the spent grain to livestock been a detriment?

Or leave it the way it was, because there is no need for the government to get involved.

Yes I am sure that feed sellers are very happy that beer makers have a way to sell feed for less than they can. You do realize that chances are this started when feed makers/sellers complained.

If you ran a business but had to meet certain guidelines that added cost you be ok with a competitor not having to meet them and under cutting you right?

I think you're being a little silly.

Are you saying that the government should ALSO be in beer, guns, and fertilizer plants. Or that the government shouldn't be in any of the areas in your post? Or maybe just the latter?

All regulation is started by a small marginalized group. That is the essence of majority rule democracy. A small marginalized group complains, the politicians bend their ear, figure out how they can make a buck on it, and tell the people it is for the good of the general public.

The hardline conservatives need to pick one,.. because they are perfectly OK with telling women and homosexuals what to do, but throw a shit fit when government intervenes on anything that is of interest to themselves.

If you want government out, totally out, then make it so,.. for everything.

Not just, and frankly exclusively towards, women and the gays.

We already have gay threads.

You mentioned women and gays. Where did I see cops in the post I quoted?

Oh, none.

You see, you are complaining about too many gay threads. But, have no issues with the many cop threads.

So, it has nothing to do with quantity,.. it's the content.

What do you have against women and gays??

forums.officer.com go jerk your cop buddies off there.

In this forum we stress accountability for abuses of authority.

Politics and News = whining about authority.

Got it.

Hey, are corporations authority-like? Or, are you OK with their tactics?

This topic was about beer and the FDA. YOU brought in gays and women. I didn't say there are too many gay threads. I said there were gay threads. What you did is present a false dichotomy and rather amusingly. You ask "what do you have against women and gays". Well my women in my life would tell you nothing, and neither would the gay people I know. Now I'll ask you, why you disrespect them so much you need to drag their real concerns into a thread about beer and associated regulations? Did I drag them into this? Did I drag those abused by the police in here too? No, of the two of us you are the only one who did. Don't play the innocent troll.

No,.. it's about big government. See, the OP even starts off with,..
So more government regulations,...

So, government; stay out of my beer,.. but, I have no outrage whatsoever about these other things that government is involved in.

If you have no opinion on anything after "beer", that's fine. No one is going to force you to form one. But, don't think for a second this is JUST about beer and government.

It's another topic about authority. And how adverse some of you are towards it,.. but, strangely, go pretty silent when certain other topics and government involvement are brought up,...

You aren't even being accurate with your complaints. If anything gay people are throwing a fit because the government WON'T come into their bedroom.

Marriage is about the government sticking it's nose in your relationship.

I'm perfectly fine with proper authority being properly applied. I do have real problems when it is otherwise.

As far as "certain topics"- I see the police abuse threads. For you information I was severely beaten when a young teen in Philadelphia by police. Mistaken identity, and when my father said he wanted to complain he was told he certainly could, but I might be charged with resisting arrest. Nothing happened. So yes I am aware of abuses, more than many. In spite of that there's not much that anyone I can say. I tend to avoid them as a rule.

Now there are certain things I am interested in. One is government regulations concerning things involving the FDA because I have a professional interest. Another is beer. Put them together in a title and I click on it. Then I see a post about gays and women. Well why not Putin? Subsidence in CA and earthquake zoning? Why not? Because people cant use them as emotional battering rams, tools to get in a dig. All in or all out? Utter nonsense. I mean seriously, do you really mean authority must not be questioned? If you didn't you certainly came off that way. If your intent is to get in an irrelevant dig that's fine. If you are complaining that there are those who insist it's either/or, then again fine. Don't presume however that people who look at something say WTF are anti this or that. You can't make those generalities, or if you insist, then as I say there are vaccine posts galore.

I think the better question is why would you want to drink beer that wasn't fit to be fed to your dog?^_^
