Hey everybody else! Leave California alone

manimal

Lifer
Everyone whines and pees like there is something wrong with cali. Well I lived there for a decade and while it has its issues its fantastic in ways most folks cant appreciate.

Where else in your 20s could you take a date to a strip club and she would be cool with that ?
Where else could you order pink dot in the middle of the night for beer cigararettes and a dime bag?
Where else could you have chicken and waffles and Nick Cage sits down next to you and its no big deal?
Where else can you be working and you spark a convo with someone who ends up being James Ellroy?
Where else can you have a table at the Whisky and Slash walks up and asks to sit with you guys a bit?
Whine all you want about cali but its still much cooler than rural buttfuck.

Yes I know I moved to buttfuck....

Post the things you guys love about cali in this thread!

i live on the east coast in MD and i find it amusing how many people here hate on california. not surprised, just amusing.

i've been out there 4 times (LA, san fran, and SD 2x) and have loved every bit of it. i would love to live in san diego and may move there within the next decade or so. the only thing holding me back here is family (which is a major part to me and my wife) and also we've only lived in our house for 2.5 years and would like to stay in it a bit longer. but winters are really starting to piss me off. i hope if i do ever move out there that they still have water.

I actually like California, but I'm contractually forbidden to offer any manner of effusive praise to our Southern neighbors, so I'll just say that I like how easy it is to avoid drowning there.

I like that show Modern Family.

Oh and Saved by the Bell.

Oh and I watched Full House when I was a young kid.

porn was leagalized in CA because some stupid DA prosecuted someone back in the 70s.
judge said nope, it legal.

buttfuck is so last millennium. its a given that every scene will have one.

now, forced deepthroat is all the rage.
thank u Cali for paving the way

Nothing like vomiting on dicks to make my dick vomit... said no person ever.

I've lived out here for 30+ years now.

The weather here is unbeatable - I just wish it would rain more. :|

If you're a tech person, there is no place in the US better to live than Silicon Valley.

Going to Calistoga Saturday for a few days of drinking too much. Promise I won't take horribly long showers and use up all of the water.

I left CA (and the US) and for years was saying that we had the best weather. Now I don't think that's true. Yes it's great but I've been to too many places that have great weather as well so it's not that unique anymore. Plus great whether in CA is limited to the coastal areas and mostly in the south. To live there you need to make a lot of money to have a decent lifestyle. I'm surprised that so many people live there making $50K a year and barely getting by. You can live in lots of places in this world with a middle class income and do a lot better and have great weather. Unless you make the big bucks - then by all means live in San Diego and Hawaii. If you can get a job in these places I would recommend them. Bali, Portugal, Medellin, the Canary Islands, São Paulo, parts of South Africa and Australia, and I'm sure I missed a few since I haven't been everywhere. Some places like Santorini probably have great weather year 'round but I have no clue what you would do there.

i love the national parks in california. even though almost everything else out there is terrible, the parks are great and make it worth visiting.

Yeah those are shitty reasons to live in CA. To me that's like listing traffic as a plus.

1. Surfing and skiing in the same, very long, day.
2. Come home from work early, go surfing, bike the boardwalk, and then grab a burger with a view of the ocean.
3. Sit out on your front porch and see tons of animals despite living in a state with close to 40 million people
4. Have access to every type of "town" you want. Want some Cambodian beer? Head to Cambodia town.
5. National Parks and Museums
6. An incredible amount of diversity both in the people and the nature.

Is this possible for a person holding a white collar job in a mainstream industry, making around 100k in a big city like LA SD or SFO?
