Its Hollywood, obviously the science is absolutely horrible. And yes, the movie as a movie, isn\ta any good. Still, its ok if you're bored and have C$4 to spare.

C$4? Consider yourself lucky! 😉

C$4 for stadium seating, digital surround sound, huge chairs and the works.

Too bad I am not in Canada, I would love to be able to pay this much all the time 😉

Wow if movies werent so damn expensive I would be going more often too I guess - last time I was has been a few months ago. Here it is almost ?10 and when u get popcorn and a drink add another 10...

Off course it wouldnt hurt if the movies were any good too 😉

10 euros.. I pay $7.5, but that's what socialism does to you.

I think most red-blooded Americans didn't like the movie becuz it showed the US being indebted to 3rd world countries 😀

I'm European, and I didn't like it because of the horrible physics and how extremely predictable it was.

***SPOILERS***

You only had 2 or less lines in the movie? No really strong character? Then you will die.

It's cold enough to instantly freeze gas inside a helicopter's fuel system as well as cover the windows and metal with a layer of frost, yet after grabbing the outer side of the door to open it the guy in the helicopter is actually able to move his hand a bit? Cold can penetrate any non-closed room, but closing the doors was enough to keep it outside, eventhough there was a wide enough slit at the bottom to let light through?

When the sled dragged the old man down and the youngest of the 3 was lying on an extremely cracked window, how could he stand up, or even sit upright without the weight becoming too focussed on a small area and him falling through it? Not to mention that the only thing the front guy could stick his pickaxe in was another window, and one at that height would surely be more resistant against damage.

Good thing the tent and stuff wasn't on the sled btw, eventhough that would be a logical place for it!

I found it more realistic than that other movie about an ogre from a swamp...... The movie knocked my socks off! It was thrilling, it was fun and I promptly forgot the story after I left the theater.

[ but when dick-Chaney is caricatured into a movie as the ?bad guy?... well, it's just a joke.

Why does this make it a joke? What if Dick Cheney is really the bad guy after all? Is there anything wrong with movies making social commentary?

It makes it a joke because it crossed the line into modern political advocasy.

Social commentary isn't the same as political: this movie crossed the line into political comentary.

but then i listen to art bell so i had to go see it 🙂

Assuming this is political advocacy, what is so wrong with that? You apparently like some political advocacy. Aren't you saying this movie is a joke because of its viewpoint, rather than the fact that it is advocating change or sounding an alarm?

I'm not seeing it simply because I think it's a bad movie based on the reviews. These are the same guys who made Godzilla afterall. I haven't gotten over the trauma of having to sit through that turd twice 'cause I was on a 17hr flight from the East Coast to Hawaii and that was the only thing they were screening. Can't believe how bad they've become since Independence Day, which I thought was a good movie despite all the B-Movie hookiness.

The movie is a joke simply because it's poorly executed.

The sci-fi is a joke because it's more of a thinly veiled propaganda pace than a commentary on humanity.

Any time you can pick out a political party as the 'bad side of humanity' you?ve crossed the line from thought-provoking to advocacy... which has its place, for those who already agree with the political view i.e. "animal farm."

But this an't no animal farm.

I paid $9 for it!! I didn't see it as a Liberal jab at Conservatives. I think anyone who views it like that needs to lighten up a bit. It was just a sci-fi flick that cost wayyyy too much.

Ill pay to see it when moveon.org can show me the exact quotes of the administration saying they dont want the movie to be shown.

Until then Ill let others waste their money on low grade dog food 😉

I suppose their is nothing wrong with movies making social commentary per se, given the First Ammendment and all. However, so often, Hollyweird is blatantly one-sided in their world-view; and it just makes me turn them off.

Let's be honest, most actors might have the equivalent of a high school education. Their commentary is no more valid than an average joe, but they are so vainglorious that they are dissassociated from reality.

my favorite part what when the british scientist guy told dennis quaid that his historic weather pattern was what was starting to happen. then goes on to say in the very next line that nothing like this has ever happened before. how stupid is that? great special effects. writing had major holes in it. just every other big budget film.... except weekend at bernies
