That poll is suspect IMO. The Zogby polls have been outliers in the past year compared to the rest. A recent CNN poll puts Cain around the 5% level if I recall.

Yeah...

No way does that poll reflect all of america. I'm sure I could go down the street from me and get you 99% support for cain just based on the ol race card...

Ron Paul or bust.

Cain is pulling 17% from a Fox news poll. Holy crap.

I am not sure if hermain cain is the new flavor of the month. Or if genuine way of speaking has really won over the public. If you watch the debates he is the only one who does not attack the other canidates. He has a positive message over all. That and he is the anti-politician and people are just sick of washington and career politicians. Just a shame that is 9/9/9 plan is so tilted for the rich and would not bring in enough revenue. The idea is sound cutting rates and getting ride of every single deduction. He should of went with the simpson tax reform plan.

Here's SP's take on polls:
Palin also addressed the negative polling that has dogged her recently. The most recent FOX News polls show 74 percent of voters think Palin should not run, 71 percent of GOP voters think the same, and most surprisingly 66 percent of self-described Tea Party members agree.
"Polls? Nah... they're for strippers and cross country skiers," quipped Palin.

I think the poor needs some skin in the game, so the idea of a (slightly more) regressive tax is appealing. Our society consumes too much and produces too little, that's why we have a trade deficit. Taxing consumption (even food) will possibly help addressing many issues, IMO.

I don't think 9/9/9 will bring in more revenue than our current tax code which is needed for deficit reduction, but it would be nice if that becomes the starting point of negotiation. It does sound catchy, though. Maybe something like (15-20-25)/15/10 would work better, I don't know. If poor/middle class got taxed the f*** out of, they would vote for more politicians who are interested in maximizing taxpayer value instead of spending like libtard drunken sailors or neocon warmongers.

Fact of the matter is that we have been spending way more than we have. We ran a deficit even when SS had a huge surplus. Money was redistributed to interest groups that have powerful lobbyists. That has to change. Everyone will need to suffer based on the choices that we collectively made in the past 30-40 years when we went from a creditor nation to a debtor nation.

9/9/9 or any variation of it would kill a family of four living near the poverty level. What little they make would have 9% taken out. The amount they have left (after rent, utilities, insurance, etc.,) would also be nearly all spent and taxed again @ 9%.

So, basically, you'd be asking them to live on 18% less than they do now and you'd probably cut their entitlements as well.

It's one thing to be single and poor (much easier to survive, better chance to better yourself, etc.), but a family is a whole lot different.

What you are saying is people who can't afford kids should not have them.

A family of 4 with both parents working full time jobs at $8 is $33k a year. 18% tax will bring them down to $27k. That's about $2,255 a month. Assuming you can get a 2 bedroom place for $700 a month, utilities for $200 a month that still leaves $855 a month. Drive beaters and vehicle maintenance + gas should not cost more than $200 a month if you live close to work. $655 a month left! Find some neighbors to share internet with and it shouldn't cost more than $30 a month. That's enough entertainment for everybody in the family. Maybe the kids can pick up a book or two at the library to learn something instead of sitting in front of the TV playing xbox all day.

There are ways to save money and live frugally. How many poor people drive crappy cars with 24" rims and iphones? I suppose they just don't know how to manage their money because they are taught that the government will bail them out. Sure, they probably can't afford cable TV. cell phone and stuff, but those are not necessities of life.

LOL where the hell do you live?

The rent figure isn't far off at all, 2 brds around here range from $650-950, it's the bills that are out of whack, electric alone ranges from $200-420 depending on time of year and company, water is about $90-130. Also the cost of those two vehicles needs to include insurance too, so tack on another $120 a month.

According to Janeane Garofalo, if you like Herman Cain, you are racist.

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/vi...o_racist_republicans_support_herman_cain.html

That isn't what your article says. Your article title is "Garafalo says: Racist Republicans Support Herman Cain." Not the same thing as saying if you support him that makes you a racist.

Also, the article title is not an accurate description of what she said. It's actually a rather bad paraphrase of it. She said some republicans support Cain because they feel that supporting him will mask racism in the GOP. She could well mean that non-racist conservatives support him to cover for the racist ones who don't.

This is how a liberal thinks. It's the mind of a liberal in action. Watch the twists and turns and complete abandonment of all that is decent and logical to justify the unjust.

The race card is ALL the left has, and it's not going to be enough.

It's too bad the fat man isn't running.

Fox News was on at the gym last night when I was there, and they were talking about pressure for him to enter the race despite the fact that he's already said no. Funny how Fox never once said that the pressure is there because the existing field consists largely of crazy yahoos who should really NEVER be elected to any public office.

So, where is health insurance in there.

Poor people don't pay for health insurance (medicaid) and their kids insurance is paid for as well (state CHIP).

The working poor pay their own bills, Spidey. The indigent are another matter entirely.

Repubs are desperate for somebody to Beat Obama! Their choices are poor, however, and the chances of any non- looney tune getting the nod over primary voters like Spidey are pretty slim.

So they flit around, trying to find another Dubya, chasing the shiney.

I'm with Colbert- they need Rick Parry!

LOL where the hell do you live?

Currently Texas.

I know libs love to hate on Texas but honestly, Texas is one of few places that has a reasonable cost of living where lower income people can actually save money and accumulate wealth. Rich liberals on the coast could give a rat's ass about their janitor not being able to afford a home.
