Pretty much. "I could shoot someone in the street and my supporters wouldn't care". If you are so loyal that you'd still vote for someone who said that, you are admitting murder is acceptable behavior by him. Instead you should be asking yourself "why would this guy not be tried and convicted for murder and sent to prison as anyone else would in the same situation"

So you see it as literal and not hyperbole? You really think he is being serious there? This might seem redundant, but I find it very hard to believe that you are taking the statement literally.

Should I take your previous comment about people needing to think out side of the box to mean that there is a special box you need to be outside of? That would seem dumb.

No, I don't think Trump was saying that if he murdered someone people would still vote for him. I think he was being hyperbolic to illustrate his voters. Not something I personally think is good mind you. I think he is right that his voters were dogmatic in their support. But I dont think anyone actually could conclude that he was being literal. God, I hope not. If reasonable people start to believe that, we truly are fucked.

It would appear that some posters need to work on their reading comprehension.
Also perhaps apply a little common sense when reviewing news articles.

Argument continues.

I guess I can expect some of the geniuses on my facebook feed to start posting links mangling this story.

I'm sure Trump himself was being silly, but also shows how crazy a base can be that they don't question themselves on a comment like that.. I bet Hitler started that way. Said some crazy things as a joke and after awhile even he was like "Fuck, these people will literally let me do anything"

I went there. I used a Hitler reference...but mine was for dramatic effect and only jokingly 🙂

Don't really know if politics of all things had anything to do with this alleged murder, but if somebody was drunk and in a mood to give a knuckle massage facial to anyone within reach, I'd think twice about making a provocative ethnically derisive joke to uhhh, somehow lighten the atmosphere a bit?

Seems to me that symbolic slap to the face was meant to aggravate the confrontation, if anything.

Not saying murdering someone was the logical solution to the problem each man faced, just saying having some common sense and a little street smarts could have avoided this tragedy.

I've seen (and learned the hard way) that the first thing you try to establish in a possible scrap is if the guy you're going up against is willing to go one step further than you are. If so, then discretion being the better part of valor rules the day.

Some folks just don't have the opportunity to learn that before something really bad happens to them I guess.

That scheme is still being used right to this very day here in the USA, but it's done in a much more sublime. nuanced kind of way. And it works too.

It's kinda weird that Trump's entire campaign revolved around fanning the flames of prejudice and ignorance, then for someone to say to the opposite side, "you know what, hysteria is a bad thing! Try not to encourage that."

I never promoted the hysteria. I think basically what happens is that social media overexposes people to stuff they find disturbing, and it erodes at certain people's mental health. This explains the hate crimes against muslims after a terrorist attack, as well as the recent acts of violence against Trump supporters.

Panic as in leaving the scene that you are panicked at, getting to an area that you are not panicked at to pick up a gun and then returning to the scene of "panic" to shoot two people..... That's a whole metric fuckload of time to get rational and the entire "judged by 12 than carried by six" doesn't apply in even the slightest in this situation. I would argue the same to be true even if he had a gun on the spot but the fact that he left and came back completely and totally removes that argument altogether.
