Making vaccine for H5N1 should not be a big problem, especially with mRNA platforms at our disposal. The like 40% of the country that might refuse it is the problem. They think COVID wasn't a big deal and if we get something that comes along which is way more lethal their "experience" will lead many into the grave.

Given the last ~5yrs, I'm generally ok with them skipping it.

The lab leak theory for COVID is so tiresome, especially since various clowns promoting it constantly act like martyrs.

A lab leak was always a possibility, the main issue here is there's literally zero evidence supporting it. It's possible the Chinese government destroyed evidence or whatever, sure, but it doesn't change the fact that there's no evidence that a COVID like virus was ever present in that lab or any other prior to the pandemic and there's quite a bit of evidence to indicate it came from an animal source. The lab leak people see this and instead of, you know, providing evidence for their position claim it doesn't exist because they are persecuted or something.

I would be perfectly fine with changing my mind about this if some evidence of either that virus or something similar existing in that lab or if there's evidence the Chinese destroyed evidence indicating this. Until then though it's just silly conspiracy theorizing.
That pretty much sums up how to objectively react to the 'China Lab Thingi'.

As for Bird Flu, I saw this the other day:

I realize, however doing that takes a fair amount of work unless you use an app that does it automagically. I was curious, so I asked.
Randomly tapping the shift key while typing does not require a "fair" amount of work. No extra work at all.

Not to worry, Trump, RFK Jr., and Dr. Oz will be at the helm. Sheryl, they have the common man's best interest at heart.

The weird thing is they use it like it some kinda validation of their behaviour during COVID. Regardless of what the origins of COVID were the tactics in slowing it's spread and eventually taming it would be exactly the same!

If it was going to happen, you would think there'd be reports of additional infections.
Those reports are missing. AKA, it isn't happening. The notion of a bird flu pandemic is a bit premature at this point.
Correct. In order for this to become a pandemic it needs to be transmitted from human to human relatively easily and at least as of now there's no indication this is the case.

Ebola is super deadly but also not very easily transmitted from person to person, hence why it's never become a pandemic.

A child in San Francisco, mild illness, full recovery.

So apparently there IS more than one case in the past year. OTOH, almost always via direct transmission from the infected animal. Does NOT look like it can easily spread among people. So while I am sure CDC is keeping an eye on it (while CDC still exists) it still remains relatively low risk. This thing is no COVID. Not currently.

We are not seeing human to human transmission.

What 3rd case of bird flu with unknown source of infection could mean in fight against disease

Cases have been spreading across the country since April 2024 with 67 confirmed as of Thursday, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Most human cases have occurred after coming into contact with infected cattle, infected poultry farms or other culling operations.
The CDC and other public health officials say there is currently no evidence of human-to-human transmission and the risk to the general public is low.

We'll know within about 48hrs after we get our first patient zero of a transmissible variant. H5N1 is about as virulent as a normal flu in birds so it'll get around quick I imagine.
