Heh indeed. Guess the reports of them ripping off customers big time is true.
Seriously this car costs like 50K new. Hennessey's one that has 725hp costs "north" of 600k.
So it costs 550k+ for a tuned and upgraded LS9(~25k) and some body work and other mods?
Just doesn't make sense. You want an exotic car that turns heads, get a Lambo/Ferrari with that money, and still have money to make it super fast if you desire. You want something that is balls to the walls fast, get whatever you like and put even a measly 100k into it and it will be shit your pants fast.
The car is stretched to fit the engine.
Shop around what it would cost to have an exige stretched, put back together with a new engine and transaxle, without sacrificing the handling dynamics, stiffness, or safety of the chassis.
Then add on how much it would cost to get body panels that fit the new car fabricated. Upgrade the brakes, suspension, etc.
You'd be in 7 figures more likely than not to try to one-off this car at the level of fit and finish that you'll see from the Hennessey.
That said, I've read the stories about Hennessey just like every other car nerd and I'd think a few times before paying him to do anything for me.
I'd also spend my 600k somewhere else. This car is no doubt awesome, but with that money I'd just buy a track focused car and an awesome street car.
I think I'd be happier daily driving a 458. I think I'd have more fun on a race track with a lotus seven replica (lets face it, I'm no Schumacher). The saying goes - it's more fun to drive a slow car fast than it is to drive a fast car slow.
