hemorrhoids and lifting...

And I got one.

I've checked all sorts of relevant websites and whatnot, and they have hints for treatment and whatever. Luckily for me, it seems to be pretty minor; no real itching, not a ton of pain, just some mild discomfort every once in awhile.

Buuuuuuut, I want to make sure it stays that way. I don't want to get in one of those "can't get out of bed for a week" situations.

So the question is, can I still lift? If so, what? How much? I mean, is there any point in even going to the gym and lifting, but lifting enough to "not strain" (like, say, 50-65% of what I'd normally lift.

Anyone have any experience with this? (I can't be the only one here)

I think a Doctor would be better able to answer your questions seeing that he'll be able to read your medical records and see first hand how serious of a situation it is.

I really don't know that you should try to tough out a hemorrhoid. I've never had one, so I don't know. I think I'd go to the doctor if it were me.

I'm not proud of this but I've had hemorrhoids 3 times last 3 years of my gym life.

At first I panicked but warm water massage and kegel exercise helped me to get cured within 2 weeks.

Next 2 were more serious because I thought I could 'tough' it out by going to gym when it wasn't fully cured.

Be absolutely sure that you're completely cured and hold on any exercise until then.

Also avoid sitting down while you rehabilitate and warm water massage and wetting your tissue when you wipe helps tremendously.

Good luck
