LOL, sorry to dissappoint you. I wouldn't worry about how your tie looks as long as it's tied correctly. Just the fact that you put one on (and went the trouble to actually tie it as opposed to a clip on) should be good enough for the interviewer

How come nobody has posted this guide yet? Oh well, its been an hour since he psoted this thread. Hopefully it worked out.

Whoa, that would have helped a lot but it's okay cuz the interview went well and they invite me for the 3rd round interview, thank goodness.

Anyway, i've tried half-windsor and four-in-hand but my knots were not as nice as it should be, my tie doesnt has the dimple at the knot 🙁 how do you get that dimple?

Create the dimple before you tighten everything up. I put the index finger of my left hand where the dimple should be and gather the tie up on either side with my thumb or other fingers before I tighten the knot.

Four-in-hand is my knot of choice. Makes a nice small knot. 🙂

here's what you do: get someone to tie it right once, then never untie it! Just loosen it and slip it over your head. My tie has been tied for 4-5 years now. 😀

I've tried but when I tighten it, the dimple went away! Do i have to buy a certain kind of tie? All my ties are 100% silk even though I do get them during sales 😛
I'll try again and when it works I will never untie it!

I know my tie is a little wider then others, so then the dimple always shows up there. 🙂 Sometimes in the wrong place, and the little triangle shape doesn't look that nice. It took me an hour from not knowing a single thing to getting my tie the way I like it and it hasn't been untied since. When you tighten it, have your left thumb and index finger stretch the two cords going out to get the top wider while sticking your left pinky in the dimple you made so it sticks. Use your left hand to pull it up while your right hand pulls down and supports where you think support is needed.

complicated... complicated ... but like amish suggested, i'll keep on practicing.

Assuming you're trying to tie either a full or half-windsor knot, the important part is to keep the knot tight at each step; if you let it go slack, it will start to bunch when you try to pull it tight. Whenever I pull the loose end through, I pull it tight and then pinch that part so it stays put while I do the next step.

If you absolutely can't get it right, have someone who knows how to do it tie it for you, and leave it that way. You should be able to loosen the tie enough to slip it over your head, and hang it over a doorknob until you need it again.
