Help with simple sound problem.

Hi, I need to record some stuff, but for some reason, sound recorder and other sound recording apps, record the line in and not the mic. I got win2k and SBLive value.


I remember that the mic worked at one point with sound recorder, but now it doesnt. The actual mic is ok, since when its plugged in, I can hear it on the speakers (unless I've muted it), but sound recorder records only the line in (currently connected to a VCR)

also, I tried connecting the mic to the line in, but that didnt work either...
 
Check mixer settings. There are separate settings for recording and playback. You've likely got it muted for recording, but not muted for playback
