That sounds like your router is getting a 192.168 address from the modem what is it 192.168.254.1? as the gateway?

well anyways, That would be my guess, your modem is acting as a router, and in that case you would need to login to the modem and set it to bridged mode, then set your router to PPPoE logging in using the user name and pass they gave you. As for how to do that i dont know. you would need to call your ISP

I beg to differ. As long as the IP is the same it will work. The problem with DHCP is the fact that your computers IP COULD change. If you set a DHCP reservation then it wont. And there is no problem. I have DHCP turned on inside my network, and all my servers have DHCP reservations including the computer i run my Utorrent on. And it works perfect. I Have never had a port forwarding problem with DHCP on, as long as the IP of the client computer doesn't change there is No difference.

You're right, I wasn't thinking at the time about reservations, I was recalling a point in time when I didn't set reservations, set statics on the hosts and the router would not allow port forwards...

Ah, that makes sense.

yeah, Give your ISP a call, if your router is getting 192.168.2.1 from your modem then thats the problem, no matter what you set the router to or the computer
its like another router in front of yours that blocks everything before it gets to the router your opening the ports on. kind of like stopping the water before a dam. it never gets to the dam so the dam cant stop it or let it though.

What do I ask them though?

Ask them to walk you though how to bridge your modem and setup your router to work with it. They will have you login to the modem, set it to bridge and then they should walk you though how to set your router to PPPoE and get it working. This will involve you changing the DHCP you saw on the main page to PPPoE, but dont do it till the modem is bridged because it wont work unless the modem is bridged.

Tell me how it goes. They might say they have no idea what your talking about just because they normally don't want you using a router. Well let me reiterate, they don't like providing support for your router.

GOT IT DONE! Then setup a static IP! They helped greatly. I tried to forward the port, but it still does not want to. I don't know if I need to setup a static IP for this PC (the Vista machine). I forwarded it to the .100 like my machine says, but it isn't working still. My router is set to DHCP and everything though still, if that makes a difference.
