One night, I decided to turn off my laptop. The next morning, I turned it on and got a BSOD. Apparently the night monsters decided to eat away at my registry and made it corrupt. Since I don't use windows restore, I was forced to reinstall. I could not format because I have files that arent backed up.
My problem is that I cannot access my old Files and settings. I tried going into the security tab in safe mode but it comes up with an error message "You do not have permission to view or edit current permission settings for folder. You can take ownership or change auditing settings."
I have no clue how to take ownership...or what auditing even is.
I believe it has to do with my security id?
Any insight would be helpful, thanks!
