Help with AIM + Wireless network

I jsut set up another wireless network, this time for my dad and family.

Everything works fine. 3 computers and a laptop connected to the net via Linksys Wireless-B router (BEFWS11 or something like that)

All computers are up and browsing the net and they can see eachother.

AIM however is not working. When I try to connect it goes to "starting services", hangs for a bit and then says "Your buddy list is curretnly unavailable, please try again later."

WHats up with that? DO I need to open up a port in the router configuration?

AIM servers sometimes give that error message. Does the same thing happen when you switch back to your wired router?

I just unplugged the router and hooked up directly and AIM works like a charm. The router must be blocking something that AIM needs.

The thing is though, I had AIM working for short times until that error message showed up.

I am leaving back to college and I refuse to leave my dad a shotty job. So please keep feeding me ideaS!

This is getting the best of me because my D-LINK setup at my APT doesnt have this problem with AIM.

i don't have that problem with AIM through my wireless router (same linksys model as you mentioned, i think)

I've used a few BEFW11S4's and there is no need to open up any ports. Right now I have a D-Link 614+ and it also works fine. Just for kicks try the new version

well what the heck is going on!?

I spent an hour with the linksys tech and he had me open about 9000 ports, it finally logged on, he bounced and then a couple minutes later it did the same thing!

Try upgrading to the latest firmware if you haven't already. That's all the advice I have. I used that same router for a while and everything worked fine for me.
