Hello all. Building a partial new PC as I really need to get a new mobo, memory and CPU. I am going to keep everything else with plans to upgrade the GPU in the near future.
Questions and answers below per the forums Q&A:
1. What YOUR PC will be used for. That means what types of tasks you'll be performing.
Primarily gaming. Web surfing and mail.
2. What YOUR budget is. A price range is acceptable as long as it's not more than a 20% spread
Right now, would like to keep everything around $350 or less for mobo, cpu and memory and perhaps a SSD.
3. What country YOU will be buying YOUR parts from.
USA
4. IF YOU have a brand preference. That means, are you an Intel-Fanboy, AMD-Fanboy, ATI-Fanboy, nVidia-Fanboy, Seagate-Fanboy, WD-Fanboy, etc.
No real preference, but leaning towards a Intel i5 CPU this time around.
5. If YOU intend on using any of YOUR current parts, and if so, what those parts are.
Will be keeping the case, PSU (Seasonic 650W), CoolerMaster Case and GPU.

7. IF YOU plan on overclocking or run the system at default speeds.
No overclocking.
8. What resolution will you be using?
1980x1200
9. WHEN do you plan to build it?
Immediately.
X. Do you need to purchase any software to go with the system, such as Windows or Blu Ray playback software?
Just traditional Windows OS.
That is really it. Just looking to find something, especially this week with all the sales that will be going on. Been looking at Intel i5 chips, however I am not opposed at all going with AMD chips. My only concern with AMD chips is the heat.
One thing I would like to add. My last rig I built, a little over 2 1/2 years ago, I ran into some really PITA issues with the memory and mobo. It was an ASRock mobo and some G.SKill memory.
Basically, to sum up the issue, there were some issues with the voltages on the board and the memory I was using. My system would lock up at all random times. I spent hours upon hours trying to figure the issue out. i talked to several people who ran into the same issue with the same mobo and memory combo. It was definitely a hardware issue and since I talked to others that were having the same issue, it was definitely a mobo and memory issue.
That being said, I am hesitant of ASRock boards now, but dont want to rule them out. I would just want to make 100% sure that if I do go with another ASRock board, the memory I get is certified to work correctly. I dont want to go through what I did on my last rig build. It was a real PITA time.
So thats it.
I appreciate the help and look forward to your response.

EDIT: Doing some more research and I think I am going to go with a i5 CPU. That being said, any suggestions on a model, mobo and memory would be great.
Thanks
