Respond to the racial comment about "I never trust a vietnamese ... , it was a perfect generalization of an ethnicity and it should be banned on the forum .. "common sense" also tells us that a place like public forum is not a place for any racial comments coz it hurt the dignity and feeling of an ethnicity .. keep all your racial prejudice to your close frens but not on public forum .. mods should make sure there is no such comments appear in the future ..

from reading all the posts on this thread, it got me wondering.

is there a law against taking money and then sending out the merchandises weeks, or even months later? as long as all the merchandises are shipped in the end, or money refunded, is he protected from prosecution somehow?

i know there are several lawyers who cruise the forums. i would be very curious as to what the law says about this.

I am kind of disappointed at the response of some of the people here.. It is one thing for you guys to say "teach him a lesson" or "go to the extent of the law and call the police" etc etc. But for you to say things like "he deserves all that he gets no matter what" or "I hope he gets some luvin in jail" (not to pick on specific comments) is totally inappropriate. While it may have been in jest, this is/was a pretty serious situation. We're talking about a young kid, 18 years old. It's not like he's destined to become a criminal, and I'd even say this is the type of "waking up" a kid needs to get his life straight.

I know most of the responses here were of the "he did a crime, he should pay for them" and that is fine, it is just the other stuff that disappoints me. As a matter of fact, having read the fatwallet thread it is pretty obvious that the people there are not as rational and downright stupid (like luvly? or those people who tracked him to some poor random guy in texas, i mean what the HECK is with that [some people have waaaayy to much free time, ever hear of consulting?]).

Anyway, happy deal huntin' to all of you.

This from the Got|Apex Mod:

Alex Nguyen is not 18 years old. We know he is 24. His address given in this thread is correct.

This got|apex post is a chronology of Alex Nguyen's criminal behaviour.

This has all been documented in emails and more.

JFYI: Half of the 6 people ripped off are Asian.
wnied $360 PalmVx
tee2 $240 PalmVx
Stoned Wheat $250 PalmVx
jkl $260 PalmVx
Dragoon42 $250 PalmVx
tranman329 $270 Motorola TimePort8167

Its likely Alex Nguyen has ripped off people before.

I know Vietnamese people and other fine Asian people who all find Alex Nguyen's criminal behavior deplorable. Ladies and gentlemen we need to focus on Alex Nguyen. Alex Nguyen needs to be held accountable for what he has done so he'll never victimize anyone else ever again.

This from blade:

I say we hang him and hang em high! -from Hang em High

Can we move this to another forum? This is not a hot deal - mayb at first to warn people, but now it's just bickering and hearsay. To off-topic or for-sale!

Mustang --

I wouldn't put much trust in COD either.

I've gotten screwed that way, myself, some years ago. Bought an HP48GX from a guy in California through the FidoNET ForSale Echo. He shipped it COD, I received the item, paid for it, and when I opened the box, found an old trade paperback in the box instead of the $200 calculator.

By the time the authorities were willing to do anything about this BLATANT example of mail fraud, the perpetrator's trail was cold... so I got screwed but good.

Oh, what the hell, here goes...

Solo Kid - That wasn't Shr00m that made that comment, it was morkinva. So I say to you, politely, how about apologizing for your childish outburst.

To those who MOE/Alex owes money to, and he's promising to pay by mail, I would make sure you demand some sort of tracking number when he mails you your payment. I can just see it now, he'll claim that your payments were all lost in the mail.

I fully agree with you RobK...now this thread is fast degenrating into accusations of racism, and people running for the higher ground....Bring on the Deals !!! I mean we appreciate the warning...but really...
We have been ripped off before and will be ripped off again...we are a special band of people who live on the edge of commerce...deal-hunters !! Hold your head high, mourn momentarily for a rip-off victim...but let us not deviate from what we do best....

Can someone change the title from "theif" to "thief"? Thank you.

---

Just go to your original post, and hit the "Edit" tab. In that post only, the original poster can edit your title.

:) Hello, how are you all doing?
I'm a little bit curious. I thought that Alex will return the money to 5 people on Wednesday. I'm not sure who is who. Alex told me that he needed money to pay something for his personal reasons. He got the check(from his job, maybe). He will clear everything out soon. I hoped you all are kind and forgiving him. He is a nice guy. :)
It's time for me to clock out. Good bye you all. I'll check back later.

Just be nice to yourself before trying be nice to others.

Just a quick thought to Hiep...

Let me break things down for you a bit since you don't understand the concept of what went down here, based on the previous 100 + posts.

A fellow (name , race, religion etc; not important... lets call him Fred for now...) offers to sell some electronic items at a highly reduced price. He does not have the merchandise he's offering to sell, he's just scamming the money for personal reasons (to pay for his sisters birth control pills , folks house is getting foreclosed on, has to pay a vet bill for his sick cat.. not important really)

Fred does this with full knowledge it's wrong, but he has good intentions (possibly). He knows in a week he gets his paycheck or plans to win the lottery (again not important) and intends to (possibly) pay back the folks he defrauds.

Folks express the opinion that a variety of punishments should await this guy. Some think he should have to pay back what he stole with interest. Other people advocate prosecution and all the fun that our prison system can offer.

Now your interpretation is cut this poor fellow a break. He must have had a good reason to be a liar and a crook, and we should feel guilty for not sending peace and love his way. Heck, the folks on this board are racist to boot.

I can see that the outcry has been somewhat intense for justice. I think some of the comments are a bit harsh, but that's the deal with free speech in this country. Just think of the outcry in certain middle eastern countries. They probably think we're all wrong for being so easy on this lowlife.

Since it's virtual crime should we fall back on the idea of lopping off his virtual hands?
I don't think so. Personally if I were one of the cheated individuals I'd simply give him one week to pay me back, and if that didn't happen I'd do everything possible to make life for him as close to hell as possible. I'd gladly spend way more than $250 worth of effort to get him tracked down and placed in a small hole somewhere. This isn't racist or especially hardcore of an attitude. It's just basically what I feel he deserves.

Turning the other cheek sounds nice... compassion is a virtue, but payback's...
well, we all know about payback. Seems to me Mr. Nguyen is due some.
