I have a Dell Precision 360 (Windows XP) with a nVidia Quadro NVS 280 video card and a LFH to Dual-DVI adapter. I have a Dell 2001FP and a Dell 1800FP connected to it via DVI. At boot and windows, I only get picture out of the primary monitor, never the secondary which is stuck in 'Power saving mode'. I have tried the latest nVidia drivers and Dell drivers. Any ideas?

I recently got bored and tossed in a second graphic card in my rig for dual monitors =

that should be a normal thing. when your computer posts, it will only display on the primary monitor and your secondary should be in power saving or standby. As soon as xp begins to load, then your secondary will activate before the GUI finally boots. I have a couple of buddys with the same issue - to us, its normal! if you swap "priorites" of your monitors, the same thing should happen.

if you want to have both screens displaying info on post, I suggest you get into programming and after you write a decent piece of code, freeware it for us to try out!

hey i could be wrong and there may be a way to have both post = but i belive what your going through is normal behaivor... unless xp fully boots up and after you bring up your dvd player the sec kicks on -

I dont mind if the 2nd monitor doesnt show during boot, but I need it to work in Windows. It works fine with dual Analog, but wht dual DVI, the secondary stays in power saving mode even though 2nd monitor is being recognized in Windows

Not sure as I run two adapters for dual monitors but you have gone through the display settings and enabled the 2nd monitor? Sorry if this is obvious but you didnt mention it.

The "extend my desktop to this monitor" is selected also, not greyed out? What happens when you select the other monitor as the Primary via the checkbox in the driver settings?

What does DXDIAG say about the second monitor?

All I can think of is the cable or adapter is bad.

If windows recognized it and everything is running proprely, the only issue left is making windows use the secondary monitor. are you sure you went through the display properties thoroughly and utilized the options to allow windows to send a signal to the secondary monitor?

the only articles i could find to assist with your problem are:
http://nvidia.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/nvid...cF9jYXRzPSZwX3B2PSZwX2N2PSZwX3BhZ2U9MQ**&p_li=&p_topview=1

and make sure your using certified drivers (supposably, guarenteeeeeed to work):
http://nvidia.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/nvid...dXAgUXVhZHJvIE5WUyAyODAgdmlkZW8gY2FyZA**&p_li=&p_topview=1

I know you said its works fine with dual analog and your issue is with digital; my only other suggestion would be to email nvidia's tech support = discover if the nVidia Quadro NVS 280 video card will allow dual digital displays.

Thanks for the link, but I have tried those already with no luck. 'extend desktop' is NOT greyed out, in fact it is checkmarked. If I change the Primary monitor to the other one, it works fine. So independently, each monitor works, but together, the secondary one does not

Do you have the nView Desktop Manager in the control panel? What does that say? And what does dxdiag say?

nView Display Mode: Dualview
Primary Display: Dell 2001FP
Secondary display: Dell 1800FP

DirectX 9.0c
DISPLAY 1
Current Display Mode: 1600x1200 (32bit) (60Hz)
Monitor: Dell 1800FP (Digital)

DISPLAY 2
Current Display Mode: 1280x1024 (32bit) (60Hz)
Monitor: Dell 1800FP (Digital)

Not sure why the 1800FP is listed for display 1 and 2, ironically, thats the one that ISN'T working

Thats messed up.. windows seems pretty confused. What happens when you run the direct draw and direct 3d tests on each display?

I cant think of anything else. Sorry. I think your best bet is nVidia tech support.
