Help! Palm Vx problem... *UPDATE: PROBLEM STILL NOT SOLVED!*

I have a Palm Vx, bought second hand. Haven't really used it in a while. I was playing with it just now, and realised that when I point to something, it points to something else. As a result, I cannot access the digitizer, and its driving me crazy. I tried to reset the damn thing, but it still cannot point correctly. Anybody had this problem before, and if so, how did you solve it? Thx!

PROBLEM NOT SOLVED :
Ok, now I know when the problem appears. After I have done a hard reset for the palm to get to its factory default settings, I try a sync with my computer to put in the data. Now comes the problem. After the sync, The palm gets out of calibration, and I cannot point to anywhere that I want.

There should be a 'Welcome' option on your home screen. Click that and follow the prompts

hmm, There is a digitizer which allows me to re-calibrate the system. The thing is, the digitizer is in the drop down preference menu. Because everything is out of sync, when I click the menu, it clicks somewhere else.

What version of the OS are you using? Have you tried using your finger to get to the right menu? Once your select 'Main' to you be your selection, I am certain that you will see a 'Welcome' prompt from where the calibration is reset and you have control over the configuration. If all else fails, you can access the Palm KB at their website.

i have the same problem a lot for some reason. You have to figure out how far offf it is and try to compensate when selecting things to get to the digitizer.

Mike, as I recall I got yours working. (?)

The best advice I can give is, when you are calibrating it, don't hold the stylus normally. Hold it at a 90 degree angle to the screen and look directly down at the dots.

Palm KB

May I ask where is that? Is it the knowledge finder on the palm.com website?

Btw, does anybody know if there is some software that allows me to re-calibrate my palm online or from my computer? My hard reset function do not seem to work...

Yeeha! My palm is back... 🙂

Turned out the hard reset had something wrong, had to on and off a few times before it asked me if I want to erase everything from the palm. Phew... My palm is back 🙂

Thx for your help guyz 😉

Anybody faced this problem before? I have tried hard resetting many times, and its still gives me the same problem, and I have even tried syncing with my bf's palm, same problem.

ok, so ditch the hotsync software and reinstall it (uninstall first) and do a hard reset and then sync it and see what happens 😀

make sure your settings are not set so that your computer overwrites your palm. make it so your palm overwrites your computer.

It's entirely possible that this problem cannot be fixed by an end user. Time to call Palm and get a RMA.

Nope 🙁

How do you do that? 😕

aieee, it's been a while, and i don't have it installed right now, but you right click ont he tray icon, go to properties or whatever it is, maybe conduit manager or something, then you can see whether palm overwrites desktop, desktop overwrites palm, or nothing.

i know from experience that a hard fall will knock out the calibration for good. I had this happen to my Palm IIIx. I took the thing apart, but i couldnt figure out what was wrong with it. I ended it up selling it to the palm doctor for $50 towards my VIIx
