Hello dear Anadtech readers,

Although I rarely post I am following the news and this website during the last 3-4 years and its now time to upgrade my aging FX-53 with 1GB RAM and X800XT vga

So here is the list I have come down and would greatly need your advice on these parts:

CPU: Core2 Duo E6600 (I want the 4MB cache and would like to o/c as high as possible)
RAM: OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) PC2-8000 Dual Channel Titanium Alpha XTC Series DDR2

M/B: I am confused between P5W DH Deluxe and P5W64 WS Pro (money is not an issue for M/B and would like to keep it long. Is it possible that the P5W64 WS Pro might support SLI too in the future?

VGA: I want the best card possible and G8800s are close. What to do wait or get a GX2 or an ATI X1950XT-X? - What is best ?

MONITOR And here is the catch - I would really like to buy the 30" Dell LCD but I wonder if I get stuck with the extremely high resolution in relation to vga power. I also read about the scaling and that only Nvdia drivers work well. So what to do get it or go for the 24" inch Dell (I want a wide Monitor)

Please shed some light here since I will keep this system for 2 years at least (much longer for the monitor ofc)

Thanks in advance.

Well one more thing I forgot: What is the best Air CPU cooler to go with the Motherboards above and E6600. Is it Scythe Infinity? any alternative?

VGA: You could go with an eVGA 7900GTO now for only @ $250 then upgrade to the 8800GTX with the "step-up" program if you so desire. The 7900GTO will also be more then adiquate for most games once you read below. This also leaves you with a bit more money available for the 30" Dell at the initial outlay.

Monitor: Big and High rez. If you can afford it I don't think you'll regret the 30". Another thing to think of ... many games can run at 1280x768 or 1280x800. This would give you a pixel perfect 2:1 scaling on the 2560x1600. (I find 1280x768 a great FPS gaming rez on my 27" 1360x768) The 19x12 on the 24" displays don't give you the option of that nice 2:1 scaling.

Can you tell I'm already saving for a 30" 2560x1600 screen to replace my 27"? I love the widescreen gaming at 1280x768, but I need a higher rez for programing, and VMware tasks.
