She brought home a darn mouse, I hate it, want it dead and gone, but she isnt going to get rid of it..

Its got a colorful large cage, which even after being thouroughly cleaned, he stinks again within 1 day, if not 1 hour.

Yes yes yes, plenty of the bedding from the pet store in there etc....

Please reply only if you have something useful to say, not just to make jokes and puns and silly comments..

this mouse stinking is driving me up the wall.. is there anyway to fix this? or do I have to end my marriage to escape this mouse?

Set that thing free in the back yard.

Or buy a BIG snake and watch the fun. A cat won't do much unless it's an outdoors cat. It'll just bat it around a bit.

I've never kept a mouse.

Try putting a layer of cat litter over the floor of the cage covered by it's bedding. Cat litter adsorbs odors.

is it the actual mouse that stinks, or its droppings and such?

b/c if its the mouse, I don't see how that can be fixed besides bathing it or something like that.

But I have heard if its droppings, depending on what you feed it can change the odor, but don't quote me on that

OK, first check to see if it a male mouse or not. Males smell really bad. If its a male, take it back and get one without balls.

Next, get chloro-pine bedding. It is the green pine bedding. It will help with the oder.

If you don't want it around, just slip a some mouse poison pellets into its food dish.

Mice smell bad, but with proper cage cleaning and bedding, that smell can be reduced. Also, keep it in a well ventilated area, not a small closed up space where the smell can accumulate.

Try to be patient and understanding. Perhaps you could try to compromise and ask her to get a hampster instead?

Hmmm thanks to all that gave me some constructive advice... part of the problem is, we live in an apartment... really we arent even supposed to have this mouse. The room that it is in, is fairly small, and there isnt any good ventilation.... She kind of 'rescued' this mouse... she is a teacher and some kids brought it in for a skit, and then siad they were going to kill it afterwards (at this point I REALLY wish they had killed the damn thing) So, taking it baqck isnt and option.

Thanks for the advice anyway... Although I dont know what to do.. the smells terrrible and I HATE it, but she is attached to it, and bought this big goofy cage and a mouse ball etc.... it's ridiculous... the thing defecates and pee's like there is no tomorrow and it stinks up the whhole room 5 minutes after it has been cleaned... it is a nasty, dirty little animal, and my only hope may be to just pray that it DIES soon.

Ask one of the maintence workers at your apartments to write a note saying he was doing routine maintence & noticed the mouse and that the mouse has to go.

Perhaps you could find a good home for the little mouse.

Barring that, glade plugins work wonders.

Also, is the cage plastic or does it have bars? A closed in cage (not open air like a metal one with bars) would probably help contain the smell to a certain degree. Have you considered getting a large fish tank and turning it into an acceptable habitat for the mouse? That way, after the mouse dies, you could have fish.

Link with mouse info.

<< Female mice smell much less than males, and many people find they cannot smell a couple of females at all if they are kept clean.

Male mice smell a lot because of their natural scent - they produce a special scent-marking urine with a distinctive musk-like smell. People react differently to this smell - some hate it, whilst others grow to like it.

Male mice are one of the smelliest small pets you can get, for their size. The musk smell is not dirty - it's different from the smell of droppings or normal pee - it is an important part of the mouse's life. By making a big smell he's saying 'Hey everyone, look how macho I am'; I'm afraid there's not a lot you can do about it, and your trying to eliminate this smell would make your mouse feel very insecure. neutering does reduce the male mouse smell (see previous section), but many people would consider it unfair to put a mouse through this operation just because the owner did not like his natural odour.

One fine idea. Make sure its a cool guy though and he won't report the incident.

Just leave a lil note in the cage " Found a Better Home" leave the cage door open~ and leave the front door open~..

I'm sure she'll understand .. the mouse has found a better home ~

Add something to the water. Potpourri, whatever (not potpourri, that would probably fvck it up real good) but perhaps something that smells a bit better than what you currently smell.
