Hm. All this is making me re-consider getting a new amp for my SVS 16-46CS sub.

when i graduate college, when i have a job, when i get my own house. i WILL have an HT. mark my word. it will be completely custom. custom x-overs, custom boxes, custom everything. sub will be all out powerful. and the mids will be able to keep up. im not sure if i will go to far though. just enough to shake stuff ;) . and i will have a trans-am lt1 with an SQ system installed in it. completely custom fiberglass enclosures done by me.

I'd still prefer an XBL^2 enabled subwoofer. Its the cleanest motor topology available today. Hands down the best.
But still, glad your happy with your sub, I'd like to try one out myself!

There's a big part of me that wants to buy a Tumult to put in my next sub (rather than the Tempest I have for it now), but unfortunately I really need the money right now & I'm having a hell of a time selling the one I have finished now.

Viper GTS

figure out how to ship it to PA in a cost effective way and ill buy it

Wondering about what it would take to hook some super sub up in the dorm here to my new audigy 2zs... i'm noob at stereo, but I KNOW I can get away with shaking my 8 floor building to the foundation for 2 minutes on a weekend when its empty...

Still waiting for AA to put out an 18" XBL^2-enabled subwoofer. The Maelstrom has great output, but I'm sure distortion is up there with the rest of the competition.

I bet the Wilson Audio XS can't keep up, assuming either sub was fed a kilowatt.
That's not really all-out. There could be a lot more bracing in that cabinet, and the internal cabling looks a bit thin for a possible 1500W.

Plus, my idea of all-out includes an IB configuration built into the listening room (whose construction, incidentally, should also be to my spec). :)

Cabling looks thin? Just how damned big of wire would you use for 1500 watts?!

Your sub sounds awesome but I think I will stick with my JBL PB12. :) The one you got is a little TOO awesome.

Of course, it would make a nice counter-measure for when my mexican neighbors start jamming their tejano music.

I need to get a sub too... looking at the Paradigm PW-2200

Check out the offerings from Hsu first.

Apparently the STF-3 crushes most < $1000 subs except for SVS, and critics are hailing the VTF-3 MK II as a $2000 giant killer.

It's seriously some heavy duty sh!t. For $699 + free shipping you really can't argue.

For another HSU-designed subwoofer, don't forget the offering from Outlaw: Nice Sub :)

I concur...between the DIY Tempest I have at home, and the Velodyne Digital Drive 10, 12, 15 and 18 we have at work...plus the Revel sub...

I have enough bass ;)

There are some great subs out there nowadays.

Problem is that most are complete OVERKILL.
