I just got a bass in last week. I've never actually had to mix a real bass before. Its harder than i thought. Anyways, here's a song i'm working on. I might have posted another version of it here before, but this one's new. Let me know what you think. I'm particularly interested in feedback about the mix, but I'll take anything. Help me get better. i know this isn't something most of you would probably listen to.

song = http://www.davidvossel.com/DAV...n_Wide_Rough_Test4.mp3

thanks!

Sounds pretty good! Will you report me to the RIAA if I save the song to my HDD? :D

Keep up the great work!

Can you crank up the vocal track a bit? It is a little hard to hear against the music, especially with the slurred vocals.

Awesome!!! Do whatever you want with it. i have an entire album for free on my site. http://www.davidvossel.com. I'll release this eventually, so the mix will probably change. I don't have much respect for the music industry, everything I record is played and produced entirely by me in my basement. the RIAA never touches my music. ever.

This, the vocals are too quiet.

its not obvious until its taken out, but i'll look into it. my reference speakers may need some adjusting. bass may be cranked a little to high on my end. are you listening to it though decent speakers?

Very nice work

I suspect you will do fine without the music thugs.

It's a brand new world, theirs is coming crashing down.

I can hear the bass perfectly clearly.

do you have good speakers? I think i may need to bring it up a little in the mids. I can here it fine, but speakers with bad lows might not pick it up so well.

I am using laptop speakers but I can still tell when there is bass in a song and to me yours had none of it.

More bass!

And cowbell...

What bass are you using? Amp? Direct box? I can hear it, but I think it could stand to be brought up in the mix a bit. What bass sound are you going for?

I could hear the bass fine- listening thorugh Klipsh speakers, I think it'd help though to have it at least a little louder.

Great song though, honestly blew me away...but then again I didn't expect much considering this is ATOT...=)
I remember listening to your stuff in the past too and am always really impressed- keep it up!

The bass is definitely there. I like the mixing of electronic music and more traditional guitars and violins. Eargasm.

Thanks! I've brought up the bass a tad in a new mix I'm working on. Are there any other mixing complaints, or does anything just sound off? thanks for all the help. i really use it!
