I actually dualboot Linux, but I mainly use Windows because I don't know enough about Linux yet. But really, are there any easy to set up http servers?

The apache site has great documentation if you cant understand the configuration file itself. You're welcome.

I hope that you have a strong password on the ftp server that you're running on that IP...

After ~2mins. I get this: Cannot find server or DNS Error

Edit:

<< The server is going offline for tonight (I need to turn off the computer) >>

That would explain why;)

Not at all. If you install the proper patches, IIS works pretty well. Of course there are a lot of patches...

My IP address changes on my DSL sometimes, is there away I can still setup a HTTP server and have it automatically find the new address.

That way I could get a www.something.com address to my friends and then they could always connect, even if the IP changes.

You basically have to take out all functionality to get it working properly. It takes more work to secure an insecure httpd ontop of an insecure OS than it would be to throw apache on top of an insecure OS.

I use dyndns.org. The server is back online now. Does anyone know if there is some way for my cable router to act as a webserver so that it can display a webpage that says that the server is offline? Or could I have dyndns.org check to see if my server is online and if it is not then have it show something that says that the server is offline?

edit: I have WinXP home, so the Win2k IIS probably wouldn't work for me.
